The Arema CTC is a 500 mm low-profile close-to-ceiling light in white — integrated 40 W giving 2,750 lm, with 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K and TRIAC dimming, projecting only 50 mm.
It dims properly, and that is the reason to choose it. TRIAC, on an ordinary wall dimmer, across the full range — not the three fixed steps the Thalia and Lyric oysters give.
At 2,750 lumens that matters. This fitting is bright enough to be the only light in a living room, and continuous dimming is what lets the same fitting be a working light at full and an evening one at 20%, with everything in between. The oysters need no dimmer at all, which is better for a retrofit; the Arema needs one, and gives you every level in return.
Genuinely low-profile. Most ceiling fittings of this size project 60 to 120 mm; the Arema sits 50 mm off the ceiling, so it reads as a flush disc rather than an object hanging below the plane.
That is what “close to ceiling” is for — and it matters in a hallway, a room with a low ceiling, or above a door swing, where every centimetre of head height is real. At 4 kg it is also lighter than the 700 mm Astana's 6.2, though still a weight that sits flat against the ceiling with none of the relief a suspension gives — tell your electrician the figure before the ceiling is opened.
Enough for a living room, a large bedroom or a hallway run on its own. At 68.75 lm/W it is efficient for a decorative ceiling fitting — and worth noting, exactly the same efficacy as the 700 mm Astana, which tells you the two are built on the same LED platform in very different bodies. So the choice between them is size and material, not light quality:
3000 K warm for living rooms and bedrooms. 4000 K neutral for a kitchen, laundry or study. 5000 K cool for a garage or workshop.
⚠ Decide before the electrician leaves. Our record flags the Arema as colour changing, which overstates it — the setting is made at the fitting, at installation, not from a switch, an app or a remote. If you are fitting several through a house, set them all the same: a hallway at 4000 K opening onto a living room at 3000 is obvious every time you walk through it.
The acrylic diffuser is what makes a 40 W LED array read as an even, seamless disc rather than a panel with visible dots — and it is why you can look up at it without discomfort. The canopy is 388 mm on a 500 mm face, so on a replacement it will cover most of what came off the ceiling. Class I — earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only, so not a bathroom.
500 mm across, projection 50 mm, canopy 388 mm, 4 kg, in iron and acrylic, white. Integrated 40 W LED giving 2,750 lm, included, with 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K set at installation, and TRIAC dimming across the full range. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
The dimming. The Arema is TRIAC dimmable across the full range on an ordinary wall dimmer; the oysters give three fixed steps — 100%, 50%, 20% — from the switch you already have. The oysters are better for a retrofit with no dimmer; the Arema gives you every level in between.
50 mm, where most ceiling fittings this size project 60 to 120. It reads as a flush disc rather than an object hanging below the ceiling plane, which matters in a hallway, a low-ceilinged room or above a door swing.
Yes — 2,750 lumens covers a living room, a large bedroom or a hallway run.
They share the same LED platform — identical efficacy at 68.75 lm/W — so the choice is size and material, not light quality. The Arema is 500 mm acrylic, clean and architectural, with nothing to maintain. The Astana is 700 mm with a fabric rim, softer and warmer, and needs occasional dusting.
4 kg — lighter than the Astana’s 6.2, but still a weight sitting flat against the ceiling with none of the relief a suspension gives. Tell your electrician the figure before the ceiling is opened.
No. Our record flags it as colour changing, which overstates it — the setting is made at the fitting during installation. If you are fitting several through a house, set them all the same: a hallway at 4000 K opening onto a living room at 3000 is obvious every time you walk through it.
No — IP20, indoor and dry locations only. Ask us about the IP44 Lunos squares if you need one that can.
