Amity LED Floor Lamp

The Amity FL35 is a 1,420 mm LED floor lamp in iron with a glass shade — 12 W giving 590 lm at 3000 K, dimmable — in black with smoke, matt brass with opal or matt brass with amber.

Three glass options, and they are three different lamps

This is where the choice actually lies, and it is worth taking seriously:

• Opal — fully diffusing. Hides the source completely: no bright point, no glare from any angle, the softest and most even light of the three. The one for beside a chair.
• Amber — tinted warm. Warms the 3000 K source further and gives a golden glow, at the cost of some output. The one bought for atmosphere.
• Smoke — tinted grey, on the black frame. Keeps the light cool and low and makes the lamp read as an object rather than a source.

The matt brass frame carries opal and amber; the black carries smoke.

590 lumens, and it dims

12 W at 49 lm/W. The efficiency is modest because the glass shade absorbs — that is the trade for the look. At 590 lm it is a reading-corner and accent lamp: enough beside a chair, not enough to light a room. It dims, which on a lamp at this output is what makes it useful in the evening.

1,420 mm on a 280 mm base, at 5.3 kg

Substantial. A 1.42-metre lamp carrying a glass shade needs weight low down, and 5.3 kg on a 280 mm base provides it — unlike the slender frames elsewhere in this range, the Amity will not be knocked over. The head spreads 350 mm.

Part of a range of three

Amity runs as this floor lamp, a table lamp and a wall light, all sharing the glass detail. Worth noting when you plan a room: the floor and table lamps offer all three glass options, and the wall light is stocked in matt brass with opal only. If you want smoke or amber on the wall, ask us before you plan around it.
