The Ora HV5530S-SS316 is the 316 stainless steel member of Havit’s Ora range: a 90 mm semi-deep recessed downlight with a solid stainless face over an aluminium body. It is the one to specify where the ceiling sits in a hard atmosphere — a coastal alfresco soffit, a poolside verandah, a bathroom that never quite dries — and where a painted trim would eventually blister. At 12 W it is a full-output downlight, and Havit rates it CRI >90.
Both of Havit’s documents rate this model IP54 — front of the fitting only, and that phrase decides where it can go. The visible face resists dust and splashing water from any direction. The body above the plasterboard does not, and neither does the separate driver. So this is a fitting for covered positions: eaves, soffits, verandah and alfresco ceilings, and bathroom ceilings outside the shower enclosure. Not a ceiling rain can reach, and not a cavity that can get wet. The 316 stainless lets the visible face survive salt-laden air; it does not change the rating behind it.
The Ora is a five-colour fitting: 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 5000K and 5700K, set with a slide switch on the fitting before it goes into the ceiling — not from the wall and not from an app. It arrives preset to 3000K. Output climbs with the setting, 890 lm at 2700K rising to 1,105 lm at 5700K, so the same room set warm is measurably dimmer than set cool — worth knowing while you are counting fittings for a living area.
The cut-out is Ø90 mm, the visible face Ø106 mm, and the body stands 54 mm above the ceiling line. It runs on 240 V AC through a separate driver, supplied with flex and plug: the plug base goes in first and the fitting plugs into it. The fitting is IC-4, so insulation may abut and cover it — but Havit is explicit that the driver must not be covered and has to sit above any insulation, and that loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool must not be used over the installation. Those two conditions travel together, and only the first is what IC-4 names.
Havit requires all 316 stainless steel fittings to be cleaned regularly to prevent tea staining, and states plainly that tea staining is not covered by the warranty. Tea staining is the brown bloom stainless develops in salt air when left unwashed: cosmetic rather than structural, preventable with fresh water and a soft cloth, and the single maintenance obligation this fitting carries. Otherwise it is fit-and-forget — the LED is built in, there is no globe to replace, and it is Protection Class 2, so no earth is required at the fitting.
It is Triac dimmable, paired with Havit’s own HV9625 Triac dimmer where the driver is a Triac-dimmable one. Havit rates the LED at over 30,000 hours, and the warranty is 3 years replacement. Lights For You has published the figures above from this model’s own dated data sheet, HV5530S-SS316_Data_Sheet_AUG23.pdf, whose ordering row is barcode-matched to the one part number this listing sells; where its installation sheet disagrees, the dated model-specific sheet is what appears here and the disagreement is set out below rather than averaged away.
Under cover, yes — an eave, a soffit, a verandah or an alfresco ceiling. Havit rates it IP54 at the front of the fitting only, so the face is protected against dust and splashing while the body and the driver above the ceiling are not rated at all. It should not go in a ceiling that rain can reach.
Yes, in the ceiling outside the shower enclosure. The IP54 rating covers the visible face against splashing; it does not make the fitting suitable for a position that gets direct water, and the cavity above it is not rated.
With a slide switch on the fitting, set before it goes up into the ceiling. It arrives preset to 3000K, and the five settings are 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 5000K and 5700K. There is no wall control and no app.
Yes, noticeably. Havit measures 890 lm at the 2700K setting, rising through 935, 1,020 and 1,095 lm to 1,105 lm at 5700K, all at 12 W. The warm settings are the dimmer ones.
The fitting is IC-4 rated, so insulation may abut and cover the fitting itself. The driver may not — Havit requires it to sit above any insulation and never be covered, and forbids loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool over the installation.
No earth: it is Protection Class 2, double insulated, and supplied with a flex and plug, though it is still a licensed electrician’s installation. The stainless needs regular washing with fresh water to prevent tea staining, which Havit excludes from the warranty.
The dated data sheet, HV5530S-SS316_Data_Sheet_AUG23.pdf, because it is model-specific and its ordering row is barcode-matched to the part number this listing sells. The installation sheet carries a lumen row of three figures for a five-colour fitting, which cannot describe this model and which belongs to the painted Ora instead, and it states a lower colour-rendering figure than the data sheet. Where the two differ, the dated model-specific sheet is what is published here.
