The Elon is a 9 W recessed LED downlight for a 90 mm cut-out. Two things make it worth specifying over a budget downlight: it is IC-4 rated, and it is TRIAC dimmable.
An IC rating says the fitting may be covered by ceiling insulation without overheating. IC-4 is the class that permits abutting and covering with insulation, tested to 90 °C. That matters more than most people realise: in a modern insulated roof, a non-IC-rated downlight needs a physical gap kept clear around it, and that gap is where heat loss and draughts happen. Loose-fill insulation is still not permitted — batts only.
Rated IP44 against splashing, so it can be used in bathroom and eave positions your electrician confirms. A standard IP20 downlight cannot go in either.
It is double insulated, which simplifies installation and is why it comes with a plug-and-flex arrangement rather than requiring an earth at the fitting.
3000 K, 4000 K or 5000 K on a switch at installation, on a 100° beam giving 850 lm. One product covers a whole house.
90 mm cut-out, fitting ø115 mm and 60 mm deep, weighing 0.15 kg. 9 W giving 850 lm, beam 100°, TRIAC dimmable, IP44, IC-4, Class II. Polycarbonate and aluminium, white or nickel. Warranty is three years.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You. Pair it with a trailing-edge or TRIAC dimmer — using the wrong dimmer type is the usual cause of flicker on an LED circuit.
