An aluminium profile is the channel that LED strip lighting sits in. Strip on its own is a bare adhesive tape stuck to a surface; in a profile it becomes a piece of the building, with a straight edge, a finished face and a diffused line of light instead of a row of visible dots.
Why strip lighting belongs in a profile
The most important reason is heat. Strip stuck directly to plasterboard or timber has nowhere to send it, and heat is what ages LEDs. Aluminium draws it away along the extrusion, which keeps output steadier for longer.
The second is appearance: a diffuser turns a row of separate bright points into one continuous line, which is what makes strip lighting read as architectural rather than as a strip of tape.
The third is protection - in a channel the strip is shielded from knocks, dust and cleaning.
How it mounts
This profile is designed to be corner.
A corner profile sits in the internal angle where two surfaces meet and throws light out across both - the usual choice for lighting under a cabinet or along the top of a wall.
Choosing and installing it
⚠ Check the width of your LED strip against the channel before ordering. Strip that is too wide will not seat properly, and it is the profile that has to suit the strip rather than the other way round.
Profiles are cut to length on site with a mitre saw and a fine-tooth blade. Plan where the joins fall before cutting.
Leave yourself a way to get power in. The cable has to enter somewhere, and a run that has been fixed, diffused and capped with no thought given to where the driver sits is a run that has to come apart again.
Diffusers and end caps to suit are listed separately, so the finish can be chosen to match the room rather than being fixed by the channel.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a profile for LED strip?
Strip will run without one, but it will run hotter and show every individual LED. A profile draws heat away and, with a diffuser, turns the run into a continuous line.
Does it come with the strip or a driver?
No. The profile is the channel only. The LED strip and the driver that powers it are separate.
What size strip fits?
Check the width of your strip against the channel before ordering - the profile has to suit the strip.
Can I cut it to length?
Yes. Profiles are cut on site with a mitre saw and a fine-tooth blade. Plan where the joins fall before cutting.
Are the diffuser and end caps included?
They are listed separately, which lets the finish be chosen to suit the room. Check what your run needs before ordering.
Can it go outside?
No. At IP20 it is for indoor, dry locations only.

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Credits will be issued in the form of store credit or gift voucher and will be equal to the price paid for the product minus the cost of shipping. Store credit vouchers are valid for six months from the date of issuance.
Our Rights
We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.
Cancellations
Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
