This is a slim aluminium profile - a narrow channel for narrow strip, made to be seen as little as possible. It is the choice for a shadow gap, a cabinet edge, a shelf front or a joinery reveal, where the aim is a line of light with almost no visible hardware around it.
A slim channel is a compromise made deliberately. There is less aluminium here than in a deeper profile, so it carries less heat away - which is fine for the low-density strip it is built for, and not fine if a high-output strip is forced into it.
What it buys in return is discretion. The channel disappears into a reveal or a shadow line, and what is left is the light rather than the fitting producing it. On fine joinery that is usually worth more than the extra thermal margin.
The diffuser also sits close to the strip in a shallow profile, which means individual LEDs can show through as a slight ripple along the line. Low-density strip is what keeps that from being visible.
This profile is designed to be corner.
A corner profile sits in the internal angle where two surfaces meet and throws light out across both - the usual choice for lighting under a cabinet or along the top of a wall.
This channel takes LED strip up to 6mm (w) x 2mm (h). ⚠ Check your strip against that before ordering - strip that is too wide will not seat, and the profile is the part that has to accommodate the strip rather than the other way round.
Cut it on site with a mitre saw and a fine-tooth blade, and take care at the cut - a slim extrusion is easier to distort than a deep one, and a squashed end will not take a diffuser cleanly.
Leave yourself a way to get power in. The cable has to enter somewhere, and a run that has been fixed, diffused and capped with no thought given to where the driver sits is a run that has to come apart again.
Diffusers and end caps to suit are listed separately, so the finish can be chosen to match the room rather than being fixed by the channel.
Strip will run without one, but it will run hotter and show every individual LED. A profile draws heat away and, with a diffuser, turns the run into a continuous line.
No. The profile is the channel only. The LED strip and the driver that powers it are separate.
Up to 6mm (w) x 2mm (h). Check your strip against that before ordering.
Yes. Profiles are cut on site with a mitre saw and a fine-tooth blade. Plan where the joins fall before cutting.
They are listed separately, which lets the finish be chosen to suit the room. Check what your run needs before ordering.
No. At IP20 it is for indoor, dry locations only.
