Bloc Outdoor LED Up/Down Wall Light

The Bloc is a compact up/down exterior wall light with a built-in LED — no globe to buy and none to replace. It throws a narrow wash up the wall and another down it, which is the effect most people actually want from an exterior wall light: the wall is lit, not the neighbour.

Colour temperature is chosen at installation, not at purchase

This is a 3 CCT fitting: a switch selects 3000 K, 4000 K or 5000 K before it goes on the wall. That matters when you are lighting a whole elevation — you can set every fitting the same on site, and change your mind after seeing one lit at night rather than committing at order time. 3000 K suits render and brick; 5000 K reads clinical on a house and is usually the wrong choice outside a commercial frontage.

Two beams of 4 W each

The fitting draws 8 W in total — 4 W up and 4 W down, on a 100° beam. That is a wide spread for an up/down, so the scallops on the wall are soft and broad rather than tight. Spacing of about 2.5 m to 3 m along an elevation gives an even rhythm; closer than that and the scallops merge into a flat wash.

Where it works

• Front elevations and boundary walls, spaced evenly to graze the surface.
• Entry paths and steps, where the downward beam does the useful work.
• Alfresco and courtyard walls, at or just above head height.
• Project and commercial frontages, where the fixed CCT choice keeps a whole run consistent.

Specifying it

It is 115 mm wide and 220 mm high in polycarbonate, rated IP65 — that is dust-tight and protected against water jets, so it is genuinely suitable for an exposed wall, unlike the lower-rated decorative fittings in this range. It runs on 240 V, the LED is built in and not replaceable, and it is not dimmable. Warranty is three years.
