Emerson 25Cm Pendant Light

The Emerson PE25 is a 250 mm industrial-style iron pendant — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied — in antique gold, black, chrome or nickel, on a 1,200 mm suspension.

Four finishes, and they behave very differently

This is the range’s strength, and the old page was cut off before it finished explaining it:

• Chrome — polished and reflective. It mirrors the room, so it disappears into a busy kitchen and shines under other lights.
• Nickel — the softer metal. Cooler than gold, quieter than chrome.
• Black — a solid silhouette. The one that reads as a shape against a pale ceiling.
• Antique gold — warm and aged rather than bright. The industrial-vintage option.

250 mm — the size you hang in runs

250 mm wide by 205 mm high, at 1.2 kg. This is the smallest of three, and at that scale it is a bench and island fitting: three of these over a two-metre bench is a standard and successful arrangement. Alone over a dining table it will look undersized — the 350 mm or 450 mm are the single-pendant sizes.

The globe is visible — buy accordingly

One E27 to 25 W, not supplied. On an open industrial shade the globe shows, so it is part of the design: a decorative filament globe suits the Emerson considerably better than a plain frosted one. Dimming follows the same logic — a dimmable globe with a wall dimmer will dim it; a plain globe will not. Our record says “No”, which is misleading; the correct answer is globe dependent.

Where it works

• Kitchen islands and benches, in runs of two or three.
• Breakfast bars and reading corners.
• ⚠ Not for a stairwell — the drop is only 1,200 mm.
• ⚠ Buy a decorative globe — the shade shows it.
• ⚠ Indoor and dry locations only — IP20.
