Product Description
xThe Domus EDEN-FL is a mother-and-child floor lamp: an 18 W uplighter throwing 1,650 lumens at the ceiling and a separate 5 W task light giving 400 lumens where you are sitting — each with its own dimmer dial.
✅ Two lights, two dials, one stem — and that is the whole argument for it. The record lists this lamp as 23 W, which is correct arithmetic and tells you nothing useful.
What it actually gives you is two independent circuits in one piece of furniture:
| Output | Direction | What it is for | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mother (18 W) | 1,650 lm | Up, through frosted glass | Lights the whole room off the ceiling |
| Child (5 W) | 400 lm | Down, on an adjustable arm | Reading, without lighting the room |
Both dim separately. So one lamp covers a room being watched in, worked in and read in — which is why this design has outlasted most floor-lamp fashions.
Why an uplighter rather than a shade
- 1,650 lm bounced off a white ceiling lights a whole living room softly, with no visible source and no glare. In a rental or a room with no ceiling point, that is genuinely the alternative to having no ceiling light.
- ✅ Frosted glass on the uplighter means the LED is not visible even from a first-floor landing looking down.
- ⚠ It needs a light ceiling. Bounced light is only as good as the surface it bounces off — on a dark or timber ceiling you will lose most of it.
- ⚠ At 1,825 mm tall it is a presence in a room. Check it against a window head or a sloping ceiling.
The reading light
- 400 lm on an adjustable arm — enough to read by comfortably, not enough to disturb anyone else in the room.
- ✅ Dimmed independently, so you can have the uplighter low for television and the task light up for a book at the same time.
- ✅ That combination is what a single-globe floor lamp cannot do, whatever globe you put in it.
Fixed at 3000 K — and that is the right choice here
⚠ There is no colour switch on this lamp. Both lights are 3000 K warm white, fixed.
- ✅ For a living room, study or entertainment area that is the temperature you want, and having both heads locked to the same one avoids the split-colour problem that catches people out on two-lamp fittings.
- ⛔ If you need neutral or cool white — a home office used for detailed work — this is the wrong lamp, and no setting will change that.
- CRI ≥80, SMD LED, 40,000 hours.
Finishes and the footprint
1,825 mm tall on a 360 × 140 mm base, in black, satin chrome or antique brass.
- ✅ Antique brass is unusual at this level and reads as considered next to warm timber or brass hardware, where black reads as default.
- ⚠ Warranty is one year, not the three most of this catalogue carries — the term across the Domus decorative range.
Where it works
- ✅ Living rooms and lounges with a light ceiling and no ceiling point.
- ✅ Beside a reading chair — the task arm is the reason.
- ✅ Studies and entertainment areas where the level needs to change through an evening.
- ⛔ Not where you need cool or neutral white — 3000 K is fixed.
- ⚠ Not against a dark or timber ceiling — the uplighter needs something to bounce off.
- ⚠ Check the 1,825 mm height against window heads and sloping ceilings.

Questions
What does "mother and child" mean?
Two lights on one stem. The "mother" is an 18 W uplighter throwing 1,650 lumens at the ceiling to light the whole room softly; the "child" is a separate 5 W task light on an adjustable arm giving 400 lumens where you are sitting. They have their own dimmer dials, so you can run the room low for television and the reading light up for a book at the same time.
Is 23 W the whole lamp?
Yes — 18 W for the uplighter plus 5 W for the task light. That total is correct on our record, which is worth noting because several other lamps in this range carry a wattage that is not. What the single number hides is that these are two independent lights, which is the actual reason to buy this one.
Will the uplighter light a whole room?
On a white or light ceiling, yes — 1,650 lumens bounced off a ceiling gives soft, sourceless light across a living room, which makes this a genuine alternative in a rental or a room with no ceiling point. On a dark or timber ceiling you will lose most of it, and a different lamp would serve you better.
Can I change the colour temperature?
No. Both lights are fixed at 3000 K warm white and there is no switch. For a living room, study or entertainment area that is the right temperature anyway, and having both heads locked together avoids the split-colour problem that catches people out on two-lamp fittings. If you need neutral or cool white for detailed work, this is the wrong lamp.
Can I dim them separately?
Yes — that is the point of the two dials. The uplighter and the task light are independent, so the room level and the reading level are set separately rather than moving together.
How tall is it?
1,825 mm, on a 360 × 140 mm base. It is a presence in a room rather than a corner filler, so check it against a window head or a sloping ceiling before choosing the position. The narrow base means it takes very little floor for its height.
Why is the warranty one year?
One year is the term across the Domus decorative lamp range rather than an error on this listing; most of the rest of this catalogue is three. Ask us if you want that confirmed in writing before you order.
