Prime Coloured Tilt WIFI Downlight 90mm Cutout

This is the tilting Prime downlight with a full-colour RGBCW engine and Wi-Fi, in four coloured metal finishes — HV5512RGBCW-AB, HV5512RGBCW-BR, HV5512RGBCW-CP and HV5512RGBCW-NK. It uses the same housing and the same Ø90 mm cut-out as the other two HV5512 models and the same 20° tilt, and it is a very different light behind the face.

The number to read before anything else

Havit's ordering row for this model measures 300 lm at 3000K and 320 lm at 5500K on the white channel. The switched HV5512T on the identical body at the identical 12 W measures 839 to 913 lm. So choosing colour on this body costs roughly two thirds of the white light, and that is not something the range name, the wattage or the price suggests. In a living room it means planning more fittings, or accepting a softer general light in exchange for the colour. The individual colours are quieter again — Havit measures red 15 lm, green 32 lm and blue 25 lm — which is normal for a colour-mixing downlight and is the right expectation to have: colour here is atmosphere, not illumination.

What you get for it

Red, green and blue mix with a white channel, all from the TUYA app on a phone or tablet, so one fitting covers everyday white light and a set scene for a film or a party without a second circuit. The diffuser is frosted perspex rather than the clear glass used on the switched and tunable-white versions, which is what mixes the colours evenly instead of showing three separate emitters, and it is why the beam opens out to 120° where the others are 60°. A wider, softer beam is the right optic for a colour wash and the wrong one for accenting a picture.

Tilt, dimming and mixing models on a circuit

The module tilts 20°, which on a 120° beam shifts the emphasis of a wash rather than aiming a spot. Dimming happens in the app, not at the wall — there is no Triac driver here, so it must not go on a wall dimmer and should not share a dimmed circuit with the switched HV5512T.

Insulation and the IC-4 condition

It is IC-4 rated with the conditions Havit sets out on the installation sheet: only the LED fitting may sit under insulation, the driver must never be covered and must be mounted above any insulation covering the fixture, and the fixture must not be used with loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool.

Body, rating and warranty

The body is aluminium — brass, copper and nickel are finishes on it — Ø105 mm across the face by 70 mm deep, on 240 V AC with flex and plug supplied. Protection Class 2, so no earth is required at the fitting, and IP54 at the front of the fitting only. CRI >90, SDCM <4, UGR <22, IK06, lamp expectancy >50,000 hrs. Havit's warranty line for these part numbers reads "3 Years replacement warranty (items ordered after 01/01/22)". One thing Lights For You will not tidy up: Havit's ordering row names the cool white point 5500K while its page copy for the same part numbers calls it 6500K, and the two are not reconciled anywhere in its material, so both are reported rather than one being chosen.
