Prime Coloured Tilt WIFI Downlight 90mm Cutout

This is the tilting Prime downlight with a tunable white engine and Wi-Fi, in four coloured metal finishes — HV5512CCT-AB, HV5512CCT-BR, HV5512CCT-CP and HV5512CCT-NK. It shares the housing, the Ø90 mm cut-out and the 20° tilt of the switched HV5512T, and differs in how the colour of the light is chosen and how it is dimmed.

Tunable rather than switched

Where the switched model is set once to one of three fixed points, this one runs continuously from 2700K to 6500K from the TUYA app on a phone or tablet. That is a wider span than the switched version reaches in either direction — warmer at the bottom than 3000K and considerably cooler at the top than 5500K — and it can be changed after the ceiling is closed up, which is the practical difference. Output is 815 lm to 865 lm across that range, so tuning the colour costs about 6% of the light at worst.

How it dims, and what it will not do

Dimming happens in the app, not at the wall. There is no Triac driver in this version, so it should not be put on a wall dimmer, and it should not be mixed on a dimmed circuit with the switched HV5512T, which is Triac dimmable. If the room needs a physical dimmer plate, the switched model is the one to buy; if it needs scenes, schedules and a colour temperature that can change with the time of day, this is. Both take the same hole, so the decision is reversible later without touching the ceiling.

The tilt, and the beam it moves

The module swings 20° inside the housing and the beam is 60°. Havit prints those two figures in neighbouring columns and they describe different things — the tilt is how far the light can be aimed, the beam is how wide the cone is once aimed. Twenty degrees will lift light onto a wall or a bench from a fitting set back from it, and will not reach across a room.

Insulation, and the condition on the IC-4 rating

It is IC-4 rated, and Havit qualifies that in the installation instructions: only the LED fitting may sit under insulation, the driver must never be covered and must be mounted above any insulation covering the fixture, and the fixture must not be used with loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool. An IC rating is about what may cover the light, not about what may cover its driver.

Body, rating and warranty

The body is aluminium with a clear glass diffuser, Ø105 mm across the face by 70 mm deep, running on 240 V AC and supplied with flex and plug. It is Protection Class 2, so no earth is required at the fitting, and IP54 at the front of the fitting only — an indoor recessed downlight, not an exterior one. CRI >90, SDCM <4, UGR <22, IK06 and a lamp expectancy of >50,000 hrs. Havit's warranty line for these part numbers reads "3 Years replacement warranty (items ordered after 01/01/22)".
