GT-530 Siena Sphere Exterior Pillar Mount

The Domus GT-530 Siena is a Ø120 mm sphere on an exterior pillar mount — 330 mm long, 280 mm high, IP43, taking one E27 globe, in beige, black, burgundy, green or white.

Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.

• ⭐ That is the trade-off for the finish choice. The body is powder-coated in the colour you pick after you order, which is why the range offers five rather than one stocked colour.
• ⚠ Plan the lead time into the job. If it is needed for a handover, a settlement or a booked electrician, tell us the date when you order and we will confirm the production window with Domus.
• ⚠ Order the whole set together. On a property using several of these, a second order placed later starts its own ten days — and a later powder-coat batch is not guaranteed to match the first.

The smaller Siena, and what that changes

The Siena range runs to several sphere sizes. This is the Ø120 mm — against the GT-544 wall light's Ø200 mm.

• ✅ Small enough to read as a detail rather than a feature. On a run of gate piers or a low wall, a line of small spheres looks considered where large ones would dominate.
• ✅ Better proportioned on a narrow pier. A 200 mm sphere on a slim column looks top-heavy.
• ⚠ Less light, and a smaller globe compartment — check the globe you intend fits.

What a sphere does, and its one real drawback

• The whole surface glows, so it lights in every direction and reads as a marker and an object — visible by day as well as lit at night. On a gate pier that is exactly the job.
• It softly lifts what is around it rather than throwing a defined beam.
• ⚠ It spills upward. A sphere is not a good neighbour if houses are close or you care about a dark sky. A shielded bollard or a downward wall light is.

✅ Use them in pairs — either side of a gate or a drive. Symmetry is what makes a sphere read as deliberate.

Choosing the globe — it is not supplied

• Warm 2700–3000 K. Cool white on an entry reads as institutional.
• Opal or frosted, never clear filament — a clear globe shows as a hot spot through the diffuser, and on a 120 mm sphere it is close to the surface.
• Modest output, around 400–600 lm. A small sphere has nothing shielding it, so a bright globe becomes something you squint at.
• ⚠ Rated for enclosed fixtures, and check the physical size — the compartment is small.

✅ Burgundy, and the rest of the palette

• Black — the safe modern default.
• White and beige — traditional; they stay visible by day.
• Green — recedes into planting.
• ✅ Burgundy — genuinely unusual, and nothing else in this catalogue offers it. Against red brick or a heritage palette it is a considered choice rather than a default.

Where it works

• Gate piers, entry columns and low walls — in pairs.
• Sheltered positions — porches, eaves, protected pillars.
• Narrow piers, where a larger sphere would look top-heavy.
• ⛔ IP43 — not for exposed positions in driving rain or hosing.
• ⚠ Globe not supplied, and the compartment is small.
