Moran Pendant Light 14Lt

The Moran 14 light is a linear suspension — 1,500 mm of horizontal run carrying fourteen mouth-blown glass globes around a central spine. That length is the whole point of it, and it is also the thing to check first: this is a fitting for a long table or a long island, and it looks wrong over anything shorter than it.

Measure the table before the ceiling

At 1,500 mm the Moran wants a table of roughly 1.8 m or longer, so there is timber showing at both ends rather than glass overhanging the edge. Over a kitchen island, run it along the axis of the bench, not across it. If your table is shorter, the same family is made as a vertical 3 light — that is the fitting for a round table or a stairwell, and it is a different order code.

Fourteen G9 globes, and none of them are in the box

Each of the fourteen holders takes a G9 globe up to 6 W, and no globes are supplied. Order fourteen with the light. G9 is a small bi-pin capsule, so buy them all in one colour temperature and one brand — mixed G9s in a row of clear glass is the most visible way to make an expensive pendant look cheap. Dimming depends entirely on the globes you fit; the fitting itself imposes no limit.

Three finishes, one shape

Antique gold with opal matt glass is the warm option and the one that reads as jewellery. Black with opal matt is the same softness in a colder key. Black with smoked glass is the only one where you see the filament through the glass — it is the most dramatic and the least forgiving of mismatched globes.

Where it works

• Long dining tables of 1.8 m or more, hung along the axis of the table.
• Kitchen islands, run lengthways so the globes clear the bench edge.
• Reception and boardroom tables where a single linear gesture beats three separate pendants.
• High-ceilinged hallways over a console, using the full rod drop.

Specifying it

The fixture is 1,500 mm long and 245 mm in diameter, with a 120 × 650 mm canopy — that canopy is large, and it needs a ceiling box that can sit under it. Drop is set with the supplied rods: one 300 mm and two 600 mm, so you are choosing from a set of fixed heights rather than trimming a cable. Fourteen G9 holders at 6 W each give 84 W total. It runs on 240 V, is IP20 and therefore indoor only, and is Class I — it requires an earth. Warranty is three years.
