Moran 9 Light Pendant Light

The Moran 9 light is the mid-size fitting in the family — 1,000 mm long with nine mouth-blown glass globes on a central spine. It is the version that fits a normal dining room: long enough to read as a linear statement, short enough not to dominate a table under two metres.

One metre is the useful length

At 1,000 mm it suits a table of roughly 1.4 m to 1.8 m. Longer than that and the 14 light at 1,500 mm or the 18 light at 2,000 mm carries the space better; shorter or round, and the vertical 3 light is the one to look at. The whole family shares the same glass and finishes, so the choice is purely about span.

Nine G9 globes, and they are not in the box

Each holder takes a G9 globe up to 6 W — 54 W across the fitting — and none are supplied. Buy nine identical globes and a spare. With opal matt glass a small mismatch is forgiving; with smoked glass, where the lamp is visible, it is not.

Three finishes

Antique gold with opal matt is the warmest and the most decorative. Black with opal matt gives the same soft light in a cooler frame. Black with smoke is the most dramatic and shows the globes clearly — choose your lamps deliberately if you take that one.

• Dining tables between roughly 1.4 m and 1.8 m, hung along the axis.
• Kitchen islands of similar length, run lengthways.
• Entry halls over a console, where the linear form suits a narrow space.
• Home offices and studies wanting a decorative fitting rather than a downlight grid.

Specifying it

Overall length is 1,000 mm, with a body 236 mm high and 236 mm wide. Nine G9 holders at 6 W each give 54 W total. It runs on 240 V, is IP20 and indoor only, and is Class I — an earth is required. Warranty is three years.
