BALLY 12 PENDANT BALLY PE 12

The Bally 12 is a ø300 mm blasted opal glass sphere on a short metal stem. The glass is finely blasted rather than clear, so it reads as a solid ball of light with no visible globe inside — the mid-century idea this shape comes from.

The glass is the product

Blasted opal has an even, matte surface that hides the lamp completely and glows uniformly. That is why the fitting works at eye level over a table or beside a stair — there is no bright point to squint at from any angle. The Alabastro option is a different glass again, with more depth and variation than the plain opal matt.

Four finishes, one size on this listing

Antique gold, black and nickel each pair with opal matt glass, and antique gold is also offered with Alabastro. The Bally family runs to other sizes as separate listings, so if ø300 mm is wrong for your space, look at the family rather than this page.

Hung on a 2 m suspension

Suspension is 2,000 mm, shortened at installation, on a canopy projecting 50 mm. The fitting weighs 1.5 kg, so a standard ceiling fixing carries it without special provision. Spheres suit hanging in a row at even centres, or singly at different heights in a stairwell.

• Kitchen islands, in rows of two or three at even centres.
• Dining tables, singly over a small table or in a line over a long one.
• Stairwells and voids, hung at staggered heights.
• Bedsides, hung low in place of a table lamp.

Specifying it

Sphere ø300 mm, fitting height 300 mm, weight 1.5 kg. One E27 globe up to 25 W, not supplied. It runs on 240 V, is IP20 and indoor only, and is Class I — an earth is required. Dimming is globe dependent. Warranty is three years.

Supplied and supported by Lights For You. Because the glass hides the lamp entirely, a plain globe is all this needs — there is nothing to gain from a decorative filament here.
