Pinta LED Step Light Eyelid 316 Stainless Steel

Pinta in 316 stainless steel is a round eyelid step light, 105 mm across, with a tempered glass lens and a marine-grade body. 316 is the stainless grade specified for salt exposure, so this is the version for a coastal or poolside wall where powder-coated aluminium eventually blisters. The eyelid shroud aims the light downwards and keeps the source out of direct view. The important thing about this listing is that the four part numbers are not finishes — they are different voltages and different lamp arrangements.

The choice to make: which part number

• HV2901 — 240 V AC, takes a G9 globe up to 25 W. Wires straight to mains, no driver. No globe is supplied, and only a G9 will fit — a G4 or an LED module will not.
• HV2902 — 12 V, takes a G4 globe up to 20 W. Requires a 12 V DC LED driver and no globe is supplied. Only a G4 fits.
• HV2903T — 240 V AC with a built-in 2.3 W tri-colour LED. Straight to mains, no driver, no globe needed or possible.
• HV2904T — 12 V DC with the same built-in 2.3 W LED. Requires a 12 V DC LED driver and must never be connected directly to 240 V.

On the two LED versions the tri-colour output is 160 lm at 3000K, 170 lm at 4000K and 180 lm at 5500K, selected at install. The G9 and G4 versions produce whatever globe you fit, which is their advantage and their catch: you buy the lamp separately and you can re-lamp later.

Specifying it

Wired in parallel, IP65, and not dimmable in any version — if a dimmed circuit is part of the brief, this is the wrong fitting. On either 12 V part number, keep each fitting within 25 m of its driver, which is a warranty limit, and size the driver for the full circuit load. Even marine-grade stainless benefits from an occasional fresh-water rinse in salt air; tea-staining is cosmetic rather than structural corrosion. Licensed electrician only.
