Elite Mini LED Step Light with Eyelid CCT 3w

Elite Mini is a recessed step light with an eyelid shroud across the aperture, in silver or black aluminium. Two things separate it from an ordinary recessed marker: the shroud hides the LED from a direct line of sight, and the beam is a tight 36° rather than a wide wash. Together they put a defined pool of light on the tread or paving directly below and almost nothing above it — the specification for a flight where you want the steps read clearly without a row of bright dots visible from the garden.

The decision that matters: this is a 12 V fitting

Both finishes are 12 V DC. Elite Mini requires a 12 V DC LED driver and must never be connected directly to 240 V; doing so destroys it and is not covered by warranty. Keep each fitting within 25 m of its driver — a warranty limit — and size the driver to the total load of the run rather than to one fitting. A 500 mm tail is supplied for the connection.

Where it works

• External stair flights — the 36° beam lands on the tread rather than spilling up the wall.
• Retaining walls beside paths viewed from a distance, where glare would be obvious.
• Pool surrounds and courtyard walls — IP65 handles direct rain and hose-down.
• Masonry and render walls, where the optional canister makes a clean recess.

Specifying it

Tri-colour selectable at install: 220 lm at 3000K, 230 lm at 4000K and 225 lm at 5500K from a 3 W LED. Commit to one temperature per flight. It can be installed with or without a canister, and the cut-out without one is 38 mm — decide which method you are using before the wall is drilled. IP65 means it copes with direct weather, and IK08 covers the knocks a fitting at ankle height takes. The LED is built in: there is no globe to buy and none can be fitted. Class III low-voltage construction, so no earth is required at the fitting. Licensed electrician only.
