Domus Deep-12-Trio - 12W Led Tri-Colour Dimmable Deepset Tiltable Led Downlight 240V

The Domus DEEP-13 is a 13 W deep-set tiltable LED downlight in black or white — COB with a reflector, CRI above 80, a 36° beam, switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K and a Ø90 mm cutout.

What “deep set” actually buys you

This is the whole point of the fitting and it is worth understanding before you compare it on price:

• The LED sits recessed well back inside the housing, behind a reflector. From a normal standing or sitting position you cannot see the source — you see a lit surface, not a bright dot.
• That kills the glare that makes cheap downlights uncomfortable in a room you actually sit in.
• The cost is a narrower beam: 36°, against the 90° of a flat-faced downlight. This is a focused light, not a wash.

✅ So: use more of them, closer together. A 36° beam from a 2.4 m ceiling lands a pool roughly 1.5 m across — plan on about 1.2–1.5 m spacing for even coverage, not the 2 m you might use with a wide-beam fitting.

And it tilts

The head is adjustable, which with a 36° beam is what makes it genuinely useful:

• Wash a wall — a row set back from the wall and angled at it turns the wall into the light source and makes a room feel larger.
• Light art, joinery or a splashback — a focused beam on the thing you want seen.
• Aim around a beam or a rafter in a raked ceiling.
• ⚠ Aim them at night, before the ceiling is patched. Tiltable downlights are routinely installed and never adjusted.

The numbers a specifier needs

• 987 lm at 3000 K, 1,053 lm at 4000 K, 1,120 lm at 5000 K — output rises as the colour gets cooler, which is normal and worth knowing if you are counting lumens for a room.
• 81 lm/W at the 4000 K setting.
• CRI above 80, 50,000 hours.
• Cutout Ø90 mm, face Ø100 mm, height 94 mm — that height is the deep-set housing, and it needs the room above.
• IP40 — dust protected, no water rating. Not for a shower, not for an eave. For a wet area, ask us about the AQUA at IP65.

Where it works

• Living rooms and bedrooms — the deep-set housing is why it is comfortable to sit under.
• Wall washing and accenting joinery or art, using the tilt.
• Hallways and stairs, where glare is most noticeable.
• ⚠ Space at 1.2–1.5 m — a 36° beam is focused, not a wash.
• ⚠ IP40 — not for bathrooms, eaves or anywhere wet.
