The Domus DECO-13 is a 13 W deep-set LED downlight in round or square, white, black or chrome — an ultra-slim 38 mm housing with a 90° beam, switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5700 K and a Ø90 mm cutout.

⚠ Two things the datasheet says that our page never did, and both change a specification decision.

  • The IP44 rating applies from the UNDERSIDE, once installed into the ceiling. It is not a sealed fitting you can put anywhere — the protection is what the room sees after the downlight is in place. Your electrician still works to the zones in AS/NZS 3000, and for a genuine wet area ask us about the AQUA at IP65.
  • Dimming is tested on the Domus dimmer series. The datasheet says plainly that it “may work on others but has not been tested”. That is a weaker claim than “dimmable”, and it is the difference between a smooth install and a flickering one.

✅ Tell us the dimmer you intend to use before you order and we will tell you whether it is a tested pairing.

Slim housing, deep-set face — an unusual combination

Most anti-glare downlights are deep, because the recess is what hides the source. The DECO manages both:

  • Only 38 mm high. That is genuinely shallow, and it is the reason to choose this fitting — concrete ceilings, minimal roof space, second storeys with shallow battens, and renovations where the ceiling void is not what you hoped.
  • Deep-set frame reducing glare from the source, in the depth available.
  • 90° beam — a wide distribution, unlike the 36° DEEP-13. This is a general room light: fewer fittings, further apart. Plan on roughly 2 m spacing from a 2.4 m ceiling.
Round or square, and three finishes

Both shapes take the same Ø90 mm cutout, so the choice is purely visual and you can even mix them across a house without changing the ceiling work.

  • Round — the default, and it disappears fastest into a ceiling.
  • Square — reads as deliberate, and lines up with square vents, skylights and joinery.
  • White vanishes; black reads as a considered detail on a white ceiling and hides the aperture; chrome suits bathrooms with chrome tapware.
The numbers
  • 800 lm at 3000 K, 850 lm at 4000 K, 900 lm at 5700 K.
  • 65 lm/W at 4000 K — modest, and the price of the slim deep-set housing.
  • CRI above 83, SMD LED, 50,000 hours.
  • Cutout Ø90 mm, face 110 mm, height 38 mm.
  • ⚠ 5700 K is the top setting, not 5000 K — colder and bluer than you may expect. Set on a dip switch at the back, before installation.

Supplied complete with a dimmable LED driver and flex-and-plug.

Where it works
  • General room lighting — a 90° beam, about 2 m apart.
  • Shallow ceilings, concrete soffits and renovations — only 38 mm deep.
  • Living areas, bedrooms, hallways and kitchens.
  • ⚠ IP44 from the underside once installed — for a real wet area ask about the AQUA.
  • ⚠ Dimming tested on Domus dimmers only — tell us yours before ordering.
Specifying it

Cutout Ø90 mm, face 110 mm, height 38 mm, round or square in white, black or chrome. 13 W SMD LED giving 800 / 850 / 900 lm at 3000 K / 4000 K / 5700 K, dip switch, set before installation; CRI >83, 90° beam, 50,000 hrs. Dimmable — tested on the Domus dimmer series; other dimmers untested. Supplied with a dimmable LED driver and flex-and-plug. 220–240 V AC, IP44 from the underside once installed. Warranty 3 years.

Supplied and supported by Lights For You.

Questions
Which dimmer works with it?

The datasheet is specific and our page was not: dimming is tested on the Domus dimmer series, and it "may work on others but has not been tested". That is a weaker claim than simply "dimmable". Tell us the dimmer you intend to use before you order and we will tell you whether it is a tested pairing — it is much easier to settle before installation than after.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Carefully. The IP44 rating applies from the underside once the downlight is installed into the ceiling — it is not a sealed fitting you can put anywhere. Your electrician works to the zones in AS/NZS 3000, and for a genuine wet area, above a bath or an alfresco ceiling, ask us about the AQUA at IP65.

Will it fit a shallow ceiling?

Yes — this is the reason to choose it. At 38 mm high it suits concrete ceilings, minimal roof space, second storeys with shallow battens and renovations where the void turned out smaller than hoped. Most anti-glare downlights are much deeper.

How far apart should I space them?

About 2 metres from a 2.4 m ceiling. The 90° beam is a wide distribution, so this is a general room light — fewer fittings, further apart. That is the opposite of the deep-set DEEP-13, whose 36° beam wants 1.2 to 1.5 m.

Round or square?

Purely visual — both take the same Ø90 mm cutout, so you can even mix them across a house without changing the ceiling work. Round disappears fastest into a ceiling; square reads as deliberate and lines up with square vents, skylights and joinery.

Is the top setting 5000K?

No — 5700 K, which is colder and bluer than 5000. It is set on a dip switch at the back of the fitting before installation, so decide before your electrician puts them in, and set every fitting in a room the same.

Which finish should I choose?

White vanishes into a ceiling. Black reads as a considered detail and hides the aperture. Chrome suits bathrooms with chrome tapware.
