The Malvern TL2 is a 510 mm two-light table lamp in antique silver, in iron, crystal and fabric — two E14 globes to 25 W each, not supplied.
⚠ A note on our own data, because it is worth being straight about. The datasheet for this lamp records a box weight of 280 kilograms. That is not possible for a table lamp — it is almost certainly 2.80 kg with a misplaced decimal point.
And it records no fixture weight at all, so the only weight figure attached to this product is the wrong one. Ask us for the real weight — on a lamp with a crystal-dressed frame, weight is what tells you how stable it is on a table.
Most table lamps in this catalogue take one globe. The Malvern takes two, and that is a real difference rather than a marketing point:
Our record holds 50 W as the wattage, which is the total for the pair — each holder takes 25 W.
Crystal on a pendant works by throwing refracted light around a room from above. On a table lamp, sitting at eye level an arm's length away, undiffused crystal would be uncomfortable to sit beside.
The Malvern's fabric shade solves that: it hides the globes and throws light up and down, while the crystal dressing on the frame catches that light at table level and sparkles quietly. You get the decorative quality of crystal without the glare — which is exactly the right arrangement for a lamp you sit next to.
Antique silver is the softening choice. Against a polished chrome frame, crystal reads bright and glamorous; against antique silver it reads traditional and quiet, and it sits with grey, taupe and muted palettes rather than fighting them.
A substantial lamp — taller than the 480 mm Stylin and the 475 mm Artizo, and wide at 340 mm. That puts the bottom of the shade above a seated eye line, so light comes down onto the page rather than across it, and it makes the lamp a console, sideboard or wide bedside piece rather than a small-table one.
Its 140 mm depth is worth noting: the Malvern is much wider than it is deep, so it sits close against a wall without projecting into the room — which suits a narrow console or a hall table.
Two E14 to 25 W each — 50 W total, not supplied. E14 is the small screw base, SES. Because the fabric hides them, brightness and warmth are the only decisions.
Use warm 2700 K: against antique silver, cool white makes an already-cool metal look grey and dead. And buy the two together — on a two-globe lamp, a mismatch shows as an uneven shade.
It dims, with the right globes. Our record says “No”; the datasheet says globe dependent, and it is right. On a plug-in lamp that needs an inline or plug-in dimmer — and on this one it is especially worth doing: taken low, the fabric glow fades and the crystal on the frame becomes the whole lamp.
Class II — double insulated, no earth required, so it is a portable lamp. ⚠ No cable length is recorded — ask us if the reach to a power point matters. IP20 — indoor and dry locations only.

It is a real difference rather than a marketing point. Twice the output from the same footprint — genuinely enough to read by, where a single 25 W-max lamp often is not. Even light across a 340 mm shade, which one central globe would light brightly in the middle and dimly at the edges. And when one globe goes, the lamp still works.
It does here, because of the fabric. Crystal on a pendant throws refracted light around from above; on a table lamp at eye level an arm’s length away, undiffused crystal would be uncomfortable to sit beside. The fabric shade hides the globes and throws light up and down, while the crystal on the frame catches that light at table level and sparkles quietly — the decorative quality without the glare.

Consoles, sideboards and hall tables. At 340 mm wide and only 140 deep it is much wider than it is deep, so it sits close against a wall without projecting into the room. It is also tall enough at 510 mm that the shade clears a seated eye line, which makes it a genuine reading lamp.
Not recorded. It is a portable Class II lamp, so it plugs in — ask us if the reach to a power point matters.
