The Vardo is a 700 mm table lamp — a black fabric shade on an antique gold body, resting on a black marble cube.

A cube, not a disc

Almost every marble-based lamp uses a round base. The Vardo sits on a 120 × 120 mm square block, 460 mm of the lamp's total height. That geometry is the design — it reads as architectural rather than decorative, and it means the lamp sits flush against a wall or into a corner where a round base would leave a gap.

Black on black, with gold between

A black shade over a black marble base, joined by an antique gold body. Unlit it is a graphic object; lit, the black shade contains the light and throws it down, so you get a defined pool rather than a glow.

4.5 kg — it does not move

Most of that is the marble. On a console in a hallway or a busy room, it will not be knocked over or dragged by its own cable. It is also not a lamp you reposition casually.

A wide shade on a tall lamp

ø350 mm at 700 mm tall. Substantial — it wants a console, a sideboard or a generous side table, and the shade will overhang a narrow surface before the base does.

E27 to 25 W, not supplied

Because the shade is opaque black, a plain warm globe is all you need — nothing decorative will be visible.
