Find the right globe for this fitting
Product Description
xThe Mosari TL is a 372 mm table lamp in matt gold or black with an opal glass shade — one G9 globe to 6 W, not supplied, on 1.8 metres of flex.
It plugs into a power point. Our page said it “must be installed by a licensed electrician”. It has 1.8 metres of flex and is Class II double insulated. Fit a globe and plug it in. Removed.
The globe — and this page had it right
One G9 to 6 W, not supplied. G9 is a small bi-pin capsule, about the size of a thumbnail, which pushes in rather than screwing.
Worth a note: three of the four Mosari pages named the base “G6”, which does not exist. This one said G9, correctly.
- Buy an LED, not a halogen. Halogen G9s get very hot inside an enclosed glass shade — and on a table lamp that is something you may actually touch.
- Warm 2700 K — against matt gold, cool white reads green.
- Rated for enclosed fittings.
- A 6 W G9 LED gives roughly 500–600 lumens, which is a soft bedside or sideboard light, not a reading lamp. If you want to read by it, ask us — the Tarell gives 530 lm with a gesture switch and the Vybor takes a full-size E27.
Opal glass, at arm's reach
The shade diffuses completely, so the capsule is invisible and there is no glare — which on a lamp that sits at eye level on a bedside table is exactly what you want. It reads as a small glowing form rather than a light source, and that is the character of the whole range.
Our range copy calls it “clear opal glass”, which is contradictory. It is opal.
⚠ 1.07 kg on a 115 mm base, at 372 mm tall. That is a light lamp on a narrow base — the same proportion we flag on the Jacona and the Inwood — so it is easy to knock and easy to pull over by the flex. Keep it back from the edge of a narrow bedside table. If it is going somewhere with real traffic, ask us about a heavier lamp; the Vybor is 6.1 kg in travertine.
One thing in its favour: a G9 capsule weighs almost nothing, so unlike the E27 lamps in this catalogue there is no risk of a heavy glass globe raising the centre of gravity.
It dims, with the right globe. Our record says “No”; the datasheet and our page both say globe dependent, and they are right. On a plug-in lamp that means an inline or plug-in dimmer — and beside a bed, on a lamp this size, dimming is most of what makes it useful. Ask us and we will match the pair.
Part of a four-piece range
Mosari is made as this table lamp, a wall light, and two close-to-ceiling fittings, all in the same minimal metalwork and opal glass — the sentence saying so was cut off mid-word on every Mosari page. A bedroom can carry the wall lights either side of the bed and this on the chest of drawers, and the rest of the floor the CTCs.
Class II — double insulated, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only, in iron and opal glass. 372 mm high, 120 mm wide, base 115 mm.
Where it works
- Bedsides and chests of drawers — no glare at eye level.
- Sideboards, consoles and shelves, as a soft point of light.
- With the Mosari wall lights and CTCs, as one scheme.
- ⚠ Not a reading lamp — roughly 500–600 lm from one G9.
- ⚠ 1.07 kg on a 115 mm base — keep it back from the edge.
Specifying it
372 mm high by 120 mm wide, base 115 mm, flex 1,800 mm, 1.07 kg, in iron and opal glass, matt gold or black. One G9 globe to 6 W, NOT supplied; dimming is globe dependent and needs an inline or plug-in dimmer. 240 V, plug-in — no electrician required, Class II — double insulated, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Questions
Do I need an electrician?
No. It has 1.8 metres of flex and is double insulated — fit a globe and plug it in. Our page said otherwise, which was wrong.
What globe does it take?
One G9 capsule to 6 W, not supplied — and this page named the base correctly, where three of the four Mosari pages said the non-existent “G6”. Buy an LED rather than a halogen (halogen G9s get very hot inside an enclosed shade, and on a table lamp that is something you may touch), in warm 2700 K, rated for enclosed fittings.
Is it bright enough to read by?
No — a 6 W G9 LED gives roughly 500–600 lumens through an opal shade, which is a soft bedside or sideboard light. If you want to read by it, ask us: the Tarell gives 530 lm with a gesture switch, and the Vybor takes a full-size E27.
Is it stable?
1.07 kg on a 115 mm base at 372 mm tall is a light lamp on a narrow base — easy to knock and easy to pull over by the flex. Keep it back from the edge of a narrow table. One thing in its favour: a G9 capsule weighs almost nothing, so unlike the E27 lamps here there is no risk of a heavy globe raising the centre of gravity.
Can I dim it?
With the right globe and an inline or plug-in dimmer. Our record says “No”; the datasheet and our page both say globe dependent, and they are right. Beside a bed, on a lamp this size, dimming is most of what makes it useful.
Will I see the globe?
No — the opal shade diffuses completely, so the capsule is invisible and there is no glare. On a lamp at eye level on a bedside table that is exactly what you want.
Does it match anything else?
Yes — Mosari is this table lamp, a wall light and two close-to-ceiling fittings, all in the same minimal metalwork and opal glass. A bedroom can carry the wall lights either side of the bed and this on the chest of drawers.
