The Jacona TL is a 390 mm table lamp with a solid wood base and a neutral fabric shade — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, on 1.8 metres of flex.

The base is real timber — and that is worth saying plainly. Our product record carried no material at all; only the page's own table said “Wood – Fabric”.

It matters because this catalogue also contains several lamps whose finish is named after a timber they are not made of — “Walnut” and “Oak” products in painted iron and polycarbonate. The Jacona is not one of them. Its base is actual wood, and that means grain, warmth and variation that a printed or painted finish cannot reproduce — every lamp is slightly different.

It plugs into a power point. Our page said it “must be installed by a licensed electrician”. It has 1.8 metres of flex and is Class II double insulated. Removed.

Wood and neutral fabric — a deliberately quiet lamp

There is nothing decorative here: a turned timber base, a neutral fabric shade, and no ornament. That restraint is the design, and it is why the Jacona suits Scandinavian, Japandi, coastal and warm-minimal rooms — all built on natural materials in simple forms, where the texture does the work.

In practice it means the Jacona is a lamp you stop noticing, in the good sense: it sits on a bedside table or a shelf and reads as part of the furniture rather than a fixture placed on it.

390 mm — and that is genuinely small

Compare the table lamps in this catalogue: the Poetix is 640 mm, the Hommer 550, the Fusell 510, the Vybor 500. At 390 mm the Jacona is the smallest of them.

That makes it the right lamp for places the others do not fit:

  • A narrow or crowded bedside table, where a 500 mm lamp dominates.
  • A bookshelf or a shelf run, under a fixed shelf above.
  • A desk corner, or a small console in a hallway.
  • In pairs, either side of a bed, where two small lamps read better than two large ones.

⚠ 1 kilogram on a 90 mm base. That is a narrow footprint for a 390 mm lamp — the same proportion we flag on the Inwood — so it is easy to knock and easy to pull over by the flex. It is fine where it sits undisturbed; keep it back from the edge of a narrow table, and if children or pets go past it regularly, ask us about a heavier lamp.

One consequence follows from the light weight: fit a light LED globe, not a heavy glass one. On a 1 kg lamp, a heavy globe raises the centre of gravity and makes a narrow base worse.

The globe is hidden, so the choice is simple

One E27 to 25 W, not supplied. Nothing shows through the fabric shade, so brightness and warmth are the only decisions. Use warm 2700 K — against natural timber, cool white looks grey and kills the warmth the wood is there to give.

Dimming depends on the globe — and neither our record nor our specification table mentioned dimming at all. The datasheet says globe dependent, which is right. On a plug-in lamp that needs an inline or plug-in dimmer, and beside a bed it is well worth doing. Ask us and we will match the pair.

Where it works
  • Narrow or crowded bedside tables — the smallest table lamp here.
  • Shelves and bookcases, under a fixed shelf.
  • In pairs, either side of a bed.
  • ⚠ 1 kg on a 90 mm base — keep it clear of knocks and pulled flexes.
  • ⚠ Use a light LED globe, not a heavy glass one.
Specifying it

390 mm high by 260 mm wide, base 90 mm, flex 1,800 mm, 1 kg, in solid WOOD and fabric. One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent and needs an inline or plug-in dimmer. 240 V, plug-in — no electrician required, Class II — double insulated, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.

Supplied and supported by Lights For You.

Questions
Is the base real wood?

Yes — actual timber, not a wood-look finish. That is worth saying plainly, because this catalogue also contains several lamps whose finish is named after a timber they are not made of: “Walnut” and “Oak” products in painted iron and polycarbonate. The Jacona is not one of them, so it has grain, warmth and variation — and every lamp is slightly different.

Do I need an electrician?

No. It has 1.8 metres of flex and is double insulated — fit a globe and plug it in. Our page said otherwise, which was wrong.

Is it small?

It is the smallest table lamp reviewed here — 390 mm, against the Poetix’s 640, the Hommer’s 550, the Fusell’s 510 and the Vybor’s 500. That makes it right for a narrow or crowded bedside table, a bookshelf under a fixed shelf, a desk corner, or a pair either side of a bed.

Is it stable?

1 kg on a 90 mm base is a narrow footprint for a 390 mm lamp, so it is easy to knock and easy to pull over by the flex. Fine where it sits undisturbed; keep it back from the edge of a narrow table, and ask us about a heavier lamp if children or pets go past it regularly.

What globe should I fit?

A warm 2700 K E27 — and a light LED rather than a heavy glass globe, because on a 1 kg lamp a heavy globe raises the centre of gravity and makes a narrow base worse. Against natural timber, cool white looks grey and kills the warmth the wood is there to give.

Can I dim it?

With the right globe and an inline or plug-in dimmer — neither our record nor our specification table mentioned dimming at all, though the datasheet has it as globe dependent. Beside a bed it is well worth doing.

What rooms does it suit?

Scandinavian, Japandi, coastal and warm-minimal — all built on natural materials in simple forms. There is no ornament on it, and that restraint is the design: it reads as part of the furniture rather than a fixture placed on it.
