Aurora LED Plaster Wall Light 3w Warm or Cool White Havit Lighting - HV8030

The Aurora is a plaster wall light that becomes part of the wall rather than sitting on it. The body is high-density plaster with a super-bright white finish, supplied ready to paint, so the fitting can be rolled in the same colour as the surrounding surface and read as a lit recess instead of a light fitting. The buying decision here is colour temperature, because the two part numbers are otherwise identical: HV8030C runs cool white and HV8030W runs warm white. Note the IP20 rating — this is an indoor fitting only, and it must not go on an exposed exterior wall, an alfresco soffit or anywhere it can be rained on.

The choice to make

HV8030C is cool white at 6000K and produces 240 lm; HV8030W is warm white at 3000K and produces 220 lm. Cool white suits stairwells, garages and utility corridors where you want the light to read as functional. Warm white suits hallways, bedheads and living spaces where the plaster body is meant to disappear into a soft wash. Both draw 3 W at 240 V and both include the globe.

Where it works

• Hallways in rendered or plasterboard homes where a surface-mounted fitting would catch shoulders and bags.
• Internal stairwells, painted to match the wall so the light source is felt rather than seen.
• Bedhead walls in a main bedroom, used as a pair either side for a symmetrical wash.
• Feature walls in a formal entry or living room, where wall grazing does the work instead of a pendant.

Specifying it

The Aurora wires straight to 240 V mains and needs no driver or transformer. It is a Class 1 fitting, so an earth connection is required and a licensed electrician should carry out the install. The globe is an E14 small screw base and is replaceable — a bayonet, GU10 or G9 globe will not fit the socket. The maximum the socket accepts is 40 W, and that is a heat limit, not a suggestion. The fitting measures 100 mm across the fitting width and 285 mm high, has no diffuser over the aperture, and is rated IK02 for impact. It is not dimmable. Rated life is under 30,000 hours.
