Porter Large Up/Down LED Wall Light

The Porter Large is a substantial round up/down wall light — a 113 mm diameter cylinder in poly powder coated aluminium behind tempered glass, running 2 × 15 W of built-in LED. At up to 1,350 lm in each direction it is one of the highest-output fittings in this range, and at 210 mm tall it has the physical presence to match a large facade rather than looking undersized on one.

The choice to make

Two finishes at the same price — HV3629T-BLK in black and HV3629T-WHT in white — and they are identical in every other respect. Colour temperature is set at install across 3000K, 4000K and 5500K, giving 2 × 1,200 lm, 2 × 1,275 lm and 2 × 1,350 lm per direction. The beam is 60°, so at this output the fitting draws two strong defined cones on the wall rather than a soft wash.

One capability worth knowing about, because it is easy to miss: the Porter Large is dimmable. Most of the built-in-LED fittings in this type are not, so if you want the option to bring a bright fitting down in the evening, this is the one in the range that allows it. The dimmer is not supplied — have your electrician confirm the model they choose is rated for an LED load.

Specifying it

The Porter Large runs on 240 V AC and wires straight to mains — no driver or transformer. The LED is built in, so there is no globe to buy or replace. Its rating is the constraint on placement: at IP54 it is protected against splashing water rather than weather, so it needs an eave, soffit, portico or balcony over it and should not go on a fully exposed facade. That matters more on a fitting of this price than on a cheap one.

Two things stated plainly. The dimensions are ø113 mm, 151 mm wide and 210 mm high, which is large — check it against the wall before ordering a pair.
