Taso LED Step Light TRI Colour

Taso is a 6 W tri-colour step light in poly powder-coated aluminium, giving 350 lm at 3000K, 360 lm at 4000K and 370 lm at 5500K — well above the marker-light output of a small recessed fitting, and enough that a single Taso lights a landing rather than just showing where its edge is. It comes in black, white and silver, with silver being the option that suits aluminium-framed and industrial-detailed buildings rather than domestic render.

The choice to make: 6 W changes the spacing

At 350–370 lm each, Taso does not need to be repeated on every riser. Two or three down a flight, or one per landing, will usually be enough — and putting one on every step at this output is both wasteful and visually busy. Set the positions out on the wall and check them after dark before drilling the rest.

Specifying it

Supplied with a 200 mm cable tail, so the connection needs to sit close behind the fitting — allow for the junction when setting out. Rated IP54: splashing and driven damp are within rating, but a wall taking direct heavy rain or standing water needs a higher-rated fitting. Tri-colour selectable at install; choose one temperature and apply it to every fitting on that elevation.

Taso is 12 V DC and requires a 12 V DC LED driver. It must never be connected directly to 240 V. Each fitting must sit within 25 m of its driver for the warranty to hold, and at 6 W apiece the driver has to be sized for the real total, not for a single light. The LED is built in — no globe needed or possible. Not dimmable, so wire it to a switched circuit. Installation by a licensed electrician.
