Curva Black LED Step Light

Curva is the high-output fitting in this group and the odd one out — a surface-mounted step or wall light in solid brass under a black powder coat, with a curved face and a frosted glass lens, running 7.5 W. At 600–650 lm it does not merely mark a step; it lights the area around it. Two things justify it over a cheaper marker: the solid brass body, which is why it survives outdoors under a coating that eventually chips, and Triac dimming, which lets a bright fitting be pulled back to marker level at night.

The decision that matters: this is a 12 V fitting

Curva is 12 V DC only. It requires a 12 V DC LED driver and must never be connected directly to 240 V — that destroys it and is not a warranty claim. At 7.5 W it draws considerably more than the 1–3 W markers in this range, so size the driver on the real total: a driver that comfortably ran eight 1 W fittings will not run eight of these. Keep each fitting within 25 m of its driver, which is a warranty limit as well as good practice.

Where it works

• Staircases and external flights where you want the steps genuinely lit, not just marked.
• Walkways and patio walls — a run of Curva can be the only light needed.
• Entry and hallway walls indoors, dimmed down as night lighting.
• Exposed outdoor positions — IP65 covers direct rain on a solid brass body.

Specifying it

Tri-colour selectable at install — 600 lm at 3000K, 650 lm at 4000K and 625 lm at 5500K — from a built-in 7.5 W LED, rated to under 50,000 hours. Choose one temperature for the whole run. Triac dimmable, which on a low-voltage circuit means the driver has to be a dimmable Triac type; specify that with the driver rather than discovering it at commissioning. The curved face throws light downward and forward, so mount it at the height where that pool lands on the tread or paving you care about. IP65 and IK06; class III, so no earth is required at the fitting. The LED is built in — no globe is needed and none can be fitted. Licensed electrician only.
