Black Square Recessed LED Step Light 3W Tri-Colour — HV3112T

The HV3112T square recessed step light in black is the compact member of Havit's flush wall-light family: a 3 W built-in LED set into the wall face, supplied with clips for plasterboard installation. Recessing it means the black body largely disappears and only the aperture reads, which is why it suits a dark stairwell wall or a joinery return where a surface fitting would look like an afterthought. The listing sells the same fitting in two voltages under the one Black colour option, and that is the specification to get right first.

The choice to make: 240 V or 12 V

• HV3112T-BLK-240V — wires straight to mains, no driver or transformer required. Class I on 240 V, so an earth is required at the fitting.
• HV3112T-BLK-12V — requires a 12 V DC LED driver and must never be connected directly to 240 V. Choose this where several fittings will share one driver.

The light is the same from both: 90 lm at 3000K, 95 lm at 4000K and 92 lm at 5500K, tri-colour selectable at install. Only the wiring differs, so choose on how the circuit is being run rather than on performance.

• Internal stairs and stairwell walls — flush, with nothing protruding into a narrow flight.
• Hallways and night circulation at low level, where an overhead light would be too much.
• Sheltered porches and undercrofts — IP54 suits covered outdoor positions.
• Apartment and townhouse common stairs where a repeated flush detail is specified.

Specifying it

Installed without a canister, so set out the cut-outs against the stud positions before anything is cut — a flush fitting has no adjustment once the hole exists. On the 12 V version keep each fitting within 25 m of its driver or the warranty no longer applies. The LED is built in: no globe is needed, none can be fitted, and nothing needs re-lamping. Powder-coated black aluminium, IP54 — splashing water and covered positions, not sustained direct rain. Must be installed by a licensed electrician.
