Matt White Fixed Down Wall Light

This is the least expensive way into the Tivah range and, on a lot of jobs, the correct one. Fixed down means no tilt and no swivel: the beam leaves the fitting straight at the ground, so a run of them along a wall lands matching pools without anyone aiming anything. The body is aluminium finished in textured white on a matching backing plate.

White, and what it does in daylight

Half of what an exterior wall light does is happen during the day, when it is simply an object on a wall. Textured white on a rendered or painted surface reads as part of the wall rather than as hardware bolted to it, which is why it outsells the darker finishes on modern facades. On a dark brick or charcoal wall the black version does the same job in reverse.

Three part numbers

• HV1135T — 240 V GU10 with Havit’s 9-in-1 switchable globe: 240–560 lm at 3000K, 255–595 lm at 4000K and 270–630 lm at 5500K as the globe steps through 3 W, 5 W and 7 W. Triac dimmable.
• HV1137GU10T — 240 V GU10 fixed at 5 W: 270 lm, 285 lm and 300 lm across the three temperatures.
• HV1137MR16T — the same output on 12 V DC MR16, requiring an external driver.

The gap between them is worth thinking about rather than defaulting to the cheapest. The switchable globe lets output be set after the fitting is up and the wall is lit, and it is the only one of the three that will dim. The fixed versions are simpler and cost less, and on a wall where you already know how much light you want, that is the whole story.

Installing it

Both GU10 versions wire straight to 240 V mains with an earth. The MR16 version is 12 V DC and needs an LED driver, sited no more than 25 m away with the supply within 5% of nominal — outside either limit Havit voids the warranty. Globes are replaceable to a maximum of 35 W on a 240 V GU10 or 20 W on a 12 V MR16. Colour temperature is a switch on the globe itself, set at install. IP65 covers a fully exposed wall with no eave above it. One restriction to check before ordering: the body is powder-coated aluminium, and Havit excludes installation within 2 km of salt water — on a coastal site the solid brass, solid copper or 316 stainless Tivah is the version to buy.
