Matt Black Up/Down Wall Pillar Light

Tivah is Havit's long-running up/down wall pillar light: powder-coated black aluminium with a matching backing plate and a high-output reflector, rated IP65 for open outdoor positions. It is the fitting most often specified in pairs either side of a garage door or along a pillar run, where the twin up-and-down wash gives a rhythm down a driveway.

The choice to make: which part number

The three options are not finishes — they are different voltages and lamp bases, and the difference matters before you wire anything:

• HV1025T — 240V AC, GU10 globes, 60° beam. Wires straight to mains, no driver. The tighter beam throws a defined column up and down the wall.
• HV1027GU10T — 240V AC, GU10 globes, 120° beam. Same wiring, a wider and softer spread.
• HV1027MR16T — 12V DC, MR16 globes, 120° beam. This one requires a 12V DC LED driver and must never be connected directly to 240V.

Where it works

• Driveway pillars and gateposts — a repeated up/down wash marks the approach.
• Garage and entry walls — mounted in pairs for symmetry.
• Exposed outdoor walls — IP65 with a marine-style backing plate.

Specifying it

All three are tri-colour selectable: 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, set at the globe. Choose one temperature for the whole run. The globes are replaceable, which is the practical advantage of this fitting over a sealed built-in LED — but they are base-specific: a GU10 globe does not fit an MR16 fitting and the reverse is also true, so match the globe to the part number you bought.

If you specify the 12V MR16 version, size the driver for the total load of every fitting on the circuit, not for one light. Havit also requires the fitting to sit within 25 m of its driver and the supply to stay within ±5% of nominal — outside those limits the warranty does not apply. Coastal siting — Havit’s condition

Havit’s installation instructions for this fitting state that aluminium and 304 stainless steel fittings must not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment. That is a condition on where the fitting may go, and it sits beside the IP rating rather than inside it: a fitting can be rated for direct rain and still fall outside this rule, because the issue is salt carried in the air rather than water landing on the surface. Earthing and protection class

This listing sells more than one supply, and the earthing requirement is not the same on both. Check which part number you are wiring before you start.

• HV1025T, HV1027GU10T run on 240 V AC mains and are Protection Class 1 — an earth is required at the fitting. Havit's installation sheet has the installer connect the earth conductor first, then live and neutral.
• HV1027MR16T run on 12 V DC and are Protection Class 3 — no earth is required at the fitting. The isolation comes from the LED driver rather than from an earth conductor, and these part numbers must never be connected directly to 240 V.
