Fortis Stainless Steel TRI Colour Single Adjustable

The Fortis single is the one-headed version of the same 304 stainless steel wall pillar light — one GU10 lamp on an adjustable head with 90° of tilt and 270° of swivel. It is the fitting most people actually need: one clean beam that can be aimed where it is wanted, in a metal that holds up outdoors, at a price that makes repeating it down a wall reasonable.

The choice to make

There is a single part number, HV1272T, so the ordering decision is only how many. The specification decision is the pairing with its double-headed sibling, HV1372T. Both share this finish, this lamp and this rating, so a facade can run singles where one beam is enough and doubles where a position has to cover more — and the two read as one family from the street, because they are.

Colour temperature is set on the globe at install: 3000K gives 270 lm, 4000K gives 285 lm and 5500K gives 300 lm. The beam is 90°, a moderate spread that lands usefully on a wall or a path without either splashing everywhere or drilling a hard spot.

Where it works

• Repeated along a covered walkway or verandah at even centres.
• Either side of an entry under the eave, aimed down onto the threshold.
• Garage and carport walls protected by the roof overhang.
• Mixed with the double-headed Fortis on a single elevation.

Specifying it

It is a 240 V AC fitting and goes straight to mains, so there is no driver, transformer or low-voltage run to allow for. One GU10 globe is supplied and it is replaceable; the fitting is not dimmable with that globe, so leave the dimmer out of the circuit. Order GU10 replacements — an MR16 or G9 lamp is physically incompatible with the socket — and keep under the wattage marked on the fitting's own label.

IP54 is the constraint on where it goes: splashing water is covered, driving rain is not, so it belongs under an eave, soffit or balcony. Havit's warranty excludes tea staining, which is what neglected stainless develops in salt air, so wash it down regularly — and note the salt-water exclusion below, which names 304 stainless steel. Coastal siting — Havit’s condition

Havit’s installation instructions for this fitting state that aluminium and 304 stainless steel fittings must not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment. That is a condition on where the fitting may go, and it sits beside the IP rating rather than inside it: a fitting can be rated for direct rain and still fall outside this rule, because the issue is salt carried in the air rather than water landing on the surface. Note that 304 stainless steel is named in this restriction — 316 stainless steel is not named in it. Earthing and protection class

This fitting runs on 240 V AC mains and is Protection Class 1 — an earth is required at the fitting. Havit's installation sheet has the installer connect the earth conductor first, then live and neutral.
