Tivah Matt Silver Single Adjustable

Silver is the quiet choice in the Tivah range. It picks up whatever is around it — aluminium joinery, galvanised posts, grey render — instead of contrasting with it, which is why it turns up on commercial frontages and modern builds where black would read as too deliberate and white as too domestic. This is the single-head adjustable, tilting through 90° and swivelling through 270°.

Three part numbers, and the beam angle is the thing to get right

• HV1245T — 240 V GU10 with the 9-in-1 switchable globe, stepping through 3 W, 5 W and 7 W: 240–560 lm at 3000K, 255–595 lm at 4000K, 270–630 lm at 5500K, in a 60° beam. Triac dimmable.
• HV1247GU10T — 240 V GU10 fixed at 5 W: 270 lm, 285 lm, 300 lm, in a 120° beam.
• HV1247MR16T — the same output and 120° beam on 12 V DC MR16, requiring a driver.

The switchable model is the narrow one and the fixed 5 W models are the wide ones — worth stating plainly, because it is the opposite of what people assume when the adjustable-output version is also the tighter beam. Both angles are properties of the globes supplied rather than the housing, so fitting a different GU10 changes the spread.

What the adjustment buys you

Aim is decided at night, on site, with the wall lit — not on a drawing. A 60° beam grazing brickwork from close in looks nothing like the same fitting aimed down a path, and neither is obvious until you are standing there. The grub screws hold the setting once made.

Installing it

Both GU10 versions wire straight to 240 V mains as earthed Class 1 fittings. The MR16 version is 12 V DC: it needs an LED driver, must sit within 25 m of it, and the supply must stay inside 5% of nominal or the warranty is void. Globes are replaceable to 35 W on a 240 V GU10 and 20 W on a 12 V MR16. Colour temperature is a switch on the globe, set at install. IP65 means an exposed wall needs no eave above it. The restriction to check first: the body is powder-coated aluminium and Havit excludes sites within 5 km of salt water — coastal jobs want the solid brass, solid copper or 316 stainless version.
