The Piaz is Havit’s 304 stainless steel up-and-down wall pillar light — two GU10 lampholders in one body, one throwing light up the wall and one down it. That symmetry is the point: a band of light above and below reads as a lit pier rather than a spotlit one.
It ships with two 5 W tri-colour GU10 globes, and the figures below are per direction — not the total, which is double. At 3000K you get 270 lm each way, at 4000K 285 lm, and at 5500K 300 lm, so output climbs slightly as the light gets cooler. The colour is chosen on a switch on the globe itself, which means one fitting covers warm, neutral and cool without re-ordering anything. The supplied globes are the 9-in-1 type, selectable at 3 W, 5 W or 7 W as well.
These are standard GU10 lampholders, so the lamps are replaceable and the beam angle belongs to the globe, not to the housing. The globes supplied give a wide 120° spread. Havit’s optional GU10s are narrower at 60° — a tighter, more architectural stripe — so the beam can be changed later without touching the fitting. The ceiling is 35 W per lampholder, and that is a thermal limit rather than a suggestion.
On dimming, Havit is specific: not dimmable with the globes supplied. The tri-colour globes are the reason, not the fitting — Havit lists dimmable GU10 replacements (HV9506D at 3/5/7 W and HV9509 at 5/7/9 W) which make the same fitting dim on a Triac wall dimmer. There is no driver and no transformer in it; it wires straight to 240 V mains.
Havit’s current instructions state that aluminium and 304 stainless fittings must not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment. That is a wider exclusion than older copies of the same document carried, so it is worth reading as the live figure. Havit also now requires that 316 and 304 stainless fittings be cleaned regularly to prevent tea staining, and states plainly that warranty does not cover tea staining — the brown speckling stainless develops in damp or salty air.
The rating is IP54. It handles splashing rather than sustained driven rain, so a soffit or a sheltered pier face suits it better than a fully open wall. Impact resistance is IK10, the highest in this range, behind a clear glass diffuser.
It is Protection Class 1 and requires an earth. Wiring is parallel and the base is 46 mm wide. Havit makes sealing a warranty condition: seal the cable entry and screw holes, then silicone around the base plate. Glare is UGR under 45, which is high — expected for an exposed-lamp uplight, and a reason to mount it above eye height. Colour consistency is SDCM under 6 with CRI above 80.
Lights For You stocks the Piaz alongside its fixed-down and single-adjustable stablemates, and Havit backs it with a 3 years replacement warranty on items ordered after 01/01/22.
Per direction. Havit prints them as 2 × 270 lm, 2 × 285 lm and 2 × 300 lm, so each of the two lampholders produces the stated figure and the fitting as a whole produces double.
Havit’s current instructions exclude installation within 5 km of any salt water environment for aluminium and 304 stainless fittings, and this is 304 stainless. For a coastal address a 316 stainless or solid brass fitting is the correct specification.
Not with the globes supplied — Havit states that explicitly. Because the lamps are replaceable GU10s, fitting a dimmable GU10 such as Havit’s HV9506D or HV9509 makes it dim on a Triac wall dimmer. The fitting itself does not decide this; the globe does.
No. It runs on 240 V mains with no driver and no transformer — the GU10 globes take mains voltage directly.
35 W per lampholder. That is a heat limit inside an enclosed glass body, so it should not be exceeded even where a higher-wattage GU10 physically fits.
Tea staining is the brown surface speckling stainless steel develops in damp or salty air. Havit requires regular cleaning of 316 and 304 stainless fittings to prevent it and excludes it from warranty cover, so it is a maintenance obligation rather than a defect.
Yes, by changing the globe. The supplied globes give 120°; Havit’s optional GU10s give 60° for a tighter stripe up and down the wall. The housing has no beam angle of its own.
