Tivah Mini Up/Down LED Wall Light

This is the Mini Tivah in 316 marine-grade stainless steel — the same 12 volt fitting as the black aluminium version, in the material specified for coastal sites. It is the reason to pay roughly twice the price: aluminium carries a coastal exclusion and 316 does not. It runs on a 12 V DC driver, takes replaceable MR11 globes, and is rated IP65 and IK10.

Havit requires regular cleaning maintenance on all 316 stainless fittings to prevent tea staining — the fine brown speckling that forms on stainless in salt-laden air — and states plainly that the warranty does not cover tea staining. It is not corrosion and it is not a fault; it is surface contamination that comes off with a wash. Put it on the same schedule as the windows and the fitting stays bright.

Specifying it: the driver is the part people forget

12 V DC, and it requires an external power supply — a 12 V DC LED driver sized for the whole run rather than for one fitting. Two conditions void the warranty if they are missed: the voltage at the fitting must stay within ±5% of 12 V, and the fitting must not sit more than 25 m from the driver. As a Class 3 fitting it needs no earth. Four MR11 globes are supplied — the 3000K pair fitted and the 4000K pair loose in the box — and the fitting produces 540 lm with the warm pair or 600 lm with the neutral pair, which is 270 and 300 lm per head. The socket accepts up to 20 W per globe; the ones supplied are 3 W. The fitting carries a 3-year replacement warranty.

Where it can go

IP65 covers water jets from any direction, so an open pillar, a boundary wall or a pool surround is a correct position, provided the fitting is sealed on installation: Havit requires every hole in the backing plate, the cable entry and the screw holes to be sealed — failing to do so voids the warranty — and silicone around the whole base plate. Each cover has a seal that must be seated when a globe is changed. IK10 is the highest impact rating in this range, which matters at shin height beside a mower or a gate.
