Lisca Round White Surface Mounted Step Light

This is the round Lisca in white — the same fitting as the square version with a circular face, and the finish to choose on rendered, painted or light stonework where a black body reads as a dark spot by day. At this price it is the fitting people buy in sixes, which is exactly what a flight of steps wants.

Round or square, and why it matters

The two shapes are electrically identical and cost the same, so the decision is the wall. A round face suits render, textured masonry and anything without a strong horizontal line, because it has nothing to align to and therefore never looks misaligned. The square version sits better with brick or block coursing. On a single property, pick one shape per flight — mixing them on one stair reads as a substitution rather than a decision. Where a run crosses both kinds of surface, it is usually better to carry one shape all the way through than to change halfway, because the eye follows the line of fittings and notices the break long before it notices the wall behind them.

Two order codes, and only one needs a driver

• HV3227T-WHT-240V wires straight to mains. No driver.
• HV3227T-WHT-12V is 12 V DC and requires a 12 V DC LED driver.

Both cost the same, so the decision is about the circuit. One or two fittings off an existing point are simpler at 240 V; a run of six or more is usually better at 12 V, fed from a single driver. The sheet lists the 12 V model as Protection Class 3 (low voltage) and the 240 V model as Protection Class 2 — neither needs an earth at the fitting.

Specifying it

The 3 W LED is built in — no globe and no socket. Tri-colour switching across 3000 K, 4000 K and 5500 K gives 150 lm, 160 lm and 155 lm, set once at installation and not adjustable afterwards. It is not dimmable. IP65 covers direct rain and hose wash-down and IK08 gives it real impact tolerance, which matters at shin height. The diffuser is clear Perspex, so the light has a harder edge than the frosted and opal fittings in this range. The cover is aluminium on a plastic mounting base — the base takes the fixings and is not metal.

Available from Lights For You in round and square, black and white. Buy the whole flight together rather than one at a time: tri-colour LEDs from different production batches can vary very slightly in tint, and on a row that is visible where a single replacement never would be.
