Lisca Round Black Surface Mounted Step Light

The Lisca is the round one, and it is the least expensive fitting in this range — which makes it the default choice when a flight of steps needs six or eight fittings rather than one or two. A circular face sits differently from a square or rectangular step light: it reads as a marker rather than a panel, and it suits rendered or rough-textured walls where a rectangle has to line up with something.

Two order codes, and only one of them needs a driver

This listing sells both voltages at the same price, and the bodies are identical, so the order code is the only thing that tells them apart:

• HV3227T-BLK-240V wires straight to mains. No driver.
• HV3227T-BLK-12V is 12 V DC and requires a 12 V DC LED driver. The datasheet warns in capitals against connecting the fitting directly to 240 V.

For one or two fittings off an existing point, the 240 V code is simpler and cheaper overall because there is no driver to buy. For a run of six or more, the 12 V code is usually better: one driver feeds the lot, and no earth is needed at each fitting, which matters when they are spread along a wall. Because both cost the same, the decision is entirely about the circuit rather than the budget.

Where it works

• External stair flights, one per step or every second step on a long run.
• Path-side and retaining walls at ankle height.
• Rendered or textured walls, where a round face does not need to align with coursing.
• Poolside and coastal steps — IP65 covers direct rain and hose wash-down.

Specifying it

The 3 W LED is built in — no globe, no socket. Tri-colour switching across 3000 K, 4000 K and 5500 K gives 150 lm, 160 lm and 155 lm, set once at installation and not adjustable afterwards, so set every fitting on a flight the same before it goes on the wall. It is not dimmable. IP65 means it will take a hose, which is more than the IP54 fittings in this range manage, and it is rated for indoor use as readily as out. Black poly powder-coated aluminium, with a clear diffuser.

Supplied by Lights For You. At this price the temptation is to buy one and see — but buy the whole flight together, because tri-colour LEDs from different production batches can differ very slightly in tint, and on a row of fittings that difference is visible when a single replacement never would be.
