A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
This is the smallest of Havit's recessed square step lights — a 1 W built-in LED behind a white powder-coated aluminium faceplate, designed to disappear into a wall and mark the edge of a tread rather than light the room. At roughly 30–35 lumens it is a wayfinding light, not a task light, and that is the buying decision: if you want to see the stair, this is right; if you want to see the whole stairwell, you want something several times brighter.
A 1 W step light works when it is one of several, spaced down a run, and when the surrounding surfaces are pale enough to bounce light onto the tread. Used alone on a dark timber stair it will read as a glowing marker with almost no spill. Plan the positions as a set — every second or third riser, or one at each landing — rather than treating a single fitting as the answer.
This is a 12 V DC fitting and requires a 12 V DC LED driver. It must never be connected directly to 240 V — that destroys the fitting instantly and takes the warranty with it. Keep each light within 25 m of its driver; beyond that Havit does not honour the warranty, because voltage drop over a long low-voltage run shows up as dimming and colour shift. Size the driver for the total wattage of every fitting on the circuit, with headroom.
Tri-colour selectable at install across 3000K, 4000K and 5500K, and the LED is built in — no globe is needed and none can be fitted. It is not a dimmable fitting. Installation by a licensed electrician.
Backed by a 3-year replacement warranty.
Supplied by Lights For You — tell us how many risers you are lighting and we will work out the driver wattage for the whole run before you order.
No. It is a 12 V DC fitting and needs a 12 V DC LED driver. Connecting it to mains destroys it immediately and is not a warranty claim.
Neither. The LED is built into the fitting, so there is no globe to buy and no socket to fit one into. At end of life the whole unit is replaced.
Around 30–35 lumens — enough to show where the edge of a step is in the dark, not enough to light a stairwell. Use several down a run rather than relying on one.
A maximum of 25 m. Longer runs cause voltage drop, which reads as uneven brightness between fittings and falls outside the warranty terms.
Only in a sheltered position. IP54 handles splashing water, so a covered porch or a wall under an eave is fine; a wall taking direct rain needs an IP65 or IP67 fitting instead.
No. This fitting is not dimmable, so put it on a switched circuit rather than a dimmer.
