HV3106T-BLK-240V-PIR - Paso Black Recessed LED Step Light with Sensor

This is the Paso recessed step light with a built-in motion sensor — the version that switches itself on when someone approaches and off again afterwards. On a hallway, a stairwell or a landing, that is the difference between a light somebody has to remember and one that simply works, and it is the reason to choose this over the plain Paso.

Indoor use only — this is IP20

The Paso is rated IP20, which offers no protection against water at all. It is for interior walls only: not a porch, not a bathroom wet zone, not an external stair, and not anywhere exposed to weather or splashing. This matters more than usual on a step light, because the name suggests an outdoor fitting and most of the range around it is rated for rain. Fitted outside, it will fail, and that is not a warranty claim.

The cut-out, and how the sensor sees

It is a recessed fitting, so the aperture decides everything: 33 mm wide × 152 mm high. Cut and test-fit one before committing to a run, and settle the position before the wall is lined — a recessed fitting cannot be moved afterwards. The sensor has a 180° detection area, which is the arc it watches, not the spread of the light it emits. Mounted low on a wall that arc covers the width of a hallway or a landing; put the fitting behind a door swing or a projecting return and the arc is blocked long before the light would have been.

Wiring it

This order code is 240 V AC, run through a remote driver, and it is Protection Class 2 — no earth required at the fitting. The sensor version is mains-only — there is no low-voltage alternative — so it belongs on a mains circuit rather than on a garden run fed from a driver.

Specifying it

The 3 W LED is built in — no globe, no socket. Tri-colour switching across 3000 K, 4000 K and 5500 K gives 45 lm, 55 lm and 49 lm, set once at installation. That is a low output by design: this is a marker and a wayfinder for a dark hallway, not a light to read by. CRI above 80, aluminium poly powder coated black.

Lights For You carries the Paso with and without the sensor, in black and white. If you are running several along a corridor, remember each has its own sensor and will switch independently — which is usually what you want, but worth picturing before you set the spacing.
