Corba 3W Recessed Brick Light with Cover

The Corba is a recessed brick light — it sits into the wall behind a cover plate, so what you see from a few paces away is light on the paving rather than a fitting on the brickwork. This is the 3 W model, the smallest of three, and the one that suits a path edge, a low garden wall or a short flight where the job is marking the way rather than lighting it.

Get the cut-out right first

On any recessed fitting this is the number that decides everything, because it is the one you cannot take back once the hole is cut. The Corba 3 W needs 105 × 41 mm with the canister, or 103 × 35 mm without it, at a depth of 58 mm. Decide which way you are installing before the wall is built or cut: into new brickwork the canister forms and protects the cavity while the mortar goes off; into an existing cavity the fitting can go in without one. Cut and test-fit a single aperture before committing to a run.

Six order codes, and three of them need a driver

This listing sells three finishes in two voltages:

• 240 V codes (-BLK-240V, -AB-240V, -BR-240V) wire straight to mains. No driver.
• 12 V codes (-BLK-12V, -AB-12V, -BR-12V) require a 12 V DC LED driver sized for the whole run.

The bodies are identical between voltages, so the order code is the only thing that distinguishes them — check it rather than the fitting. Black is the least expensive of the three finishes; antique brass and brass carry a premium and are the choice where the cover plate will be seen close up.

Specifying it

The 3 W LED is built in — no globe, no socket. Tri-colour switching across 3000 K, 4000 K and 5500 K gives 140 lm at 3000 K, 155 lm at 4000 K and 150 lm at 5500 K — the middle setting is the brightest, so choose the colour you want rather than reading the three as a ladder. IP54 covers rain and splashing, which suits a wall or a path edge; it is not a wash-down rating, so keep it away from anything that gets hosed. Aluminium, supplied with its cover.

Earthing and protection class

This listing sells more than one supply, and the earthing requirement is not the same on both. Check which part number you are wiring before you start.

• HV3011T-BLK-240V, HV3011T-AB-240V, HV3011T-BR-240V run on 240 V AC mains and are Protection Class 1 — an earth is required at the fitting. Havit's installation sheet has the installer connect the earth conductor first, then live and neutral.
• HV3011T-BLK-12V, HV3011T-AB-12V, HV3011T-BR-12V run on 12 V DC and are Protection Class 3 — no earth is required at the fitting. The isolation comes from the LED driver rather than from an earth conductor, and these part numbers must never be connected directly to 240 V.
