This is the colour-changing Spitze — the same ø60 mm black aluminium spike spotlight as the tri-colour version, but with an RGBCW LED behind frosted glass instead of a fixed white. That is the whole buying decision: you are paying extra for the ability to change colour, and to get it you need a 24 V DC driver plus a compatible RGBCW controller, not the plain 12 V transformer most garden runs already have. If you only ever want warm white on a tree, the standard Spitze is the cheaper and simpler fitting.

The choice to make: is colour actually worth the extra hardware?

RGBCW means red, green and blue channels alongside dedicated warm and cool white, so it does both jobs — a clean 3000K wash on a palm trunk most nights, then full colour for Christmas, a party or a feature wall. The catch is the control layer. Without a controller the fitting cannot be driven at all, and the controller has to match the driver and the number of fittings on the run. Plan the whole chain before you buy a single spike.

Specifying it

Spitze RGBCW is a 24 V DC fitting and requires a 24 V DC LED driver together with a suitable RGBCW controller. It must never be connected directly to 240 V — that destroys it on the spot and is not a warranty claim. Note the voltage carefully: this is the one Spitze that is not 12 V, so it cannot simply be added to an existing 12 V garden circuit.

The LED is built in — no globe is needed and none can be fitted. Rated IP65, which covers direct rain, sprinkler spray and the ground moisture a spike sits in year-round. Output on the white channels is 180 lm at 3000K and 200 lm at 5500K from 3 W, with RGB colour alongside. Dimmable, through the controller rather than a wall dimmer. Supplied with a 2000 mm cable and DIY connectors; the spike is 162 mm long. IK08 impact rated. Installation by a licensed electrician.
