Nova RGBCW is the colour-changing fitting in Havit's spike range, and RGBCW is the part of the name that matters. Alongside red, green and blue it carries separate warm and cool white LEDs — 3000K and 5500K — rather than mixing the three colours to approximate white. Any fitting that fakes white from RGB renders planting and brickwork badly; this one gives you real white light for the eleven months of the year when nobody wants a purple garden, and full colour for the occasion when they do.

The decision that matters: it needs a controller as well as a driver

This is the thing people miss, and its own installation sheet states it plainly: "Use an appropriate 12v DC LED Driver and RGBCW LED Controller — DO NOT CONNECT LIGHT FITTING DIRECT TO 240V". A driver alone will power it but gives you no way to change colour, so budget both parts before you commit to a run. The usual warranty conditions apply as well: the fitting must sit within 25 m of its driver, with supply within ±5% of the required voltage.

Where it works
  • Entertaining areas and pool surrounds, where colour is wanted occasionally and white light most nights.
  • Feature trees and sculptural planting that you want to change with the season or the event.
  • Rendered walls and water features, where a 60° beam grazes a broad surface evenly.
  • Surface mounting as well as spiking — the datasheet lists both, so it can go on a deck or a pier cap.
Specifying it

The fitting is 353 mm tall and 60 mm wide on a 170 mm spike, with a 1 m cable and a clear glass diffuser. The LED is built in at 7 W — there is no globe to buy and none can be fitted, and at end of life the fitting is replaced rather than relamped. Output is 200 lm through a 60° beam, with CRI >80 and a rated lamp expectancy of >30,000 hours. It is dimmable, through the RGBCW controller rather than a wall dimmer. Sealing is IP65 with IK08 impact resistance and Protection Class III — low voltage, no earth required. Choose between a powder-coated black aluminium body and 316 stainless steel; near salt water the 316 version is the one to specify.

Questions
Do I need anything besides the fitting?

Yes — a 12 V DC LED driver and an RGBCW LED controller. Its installation sheet names both. The driver powers the fitting; the controller is what gives you colour and white-level control. A driver on its own leaves you with a light you cannot change.

What does RGBCW give me that RGB does not?

Real white light. RGBCW adds dedicated warm (3000K) and cool (5500K) white LEDs, so white is produced by white emitters instead of being mixed from red, green and blue. Mixed white renders foliage and masonry poorly, which is very visible in a garden.

Is there a globe to replace?

No. The 7 W LED is built in and is not user-replaceable, so nothing needs buying separately — and at end of life the whole fitting is replaced rather than relamped.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, through the RGBCW controller rather than a conventional wall dimmer. Level and colour are both handled by the controller, which is another reason to specify it with the fittings rather than afterwards.

Can it be surface mounted instead of spiked?

Yes. Its datasheet lists installation as ground spike or surface mounted, so it can sit on decking, a pier cap or a retaining wall as well as in a garden bed.

Which finish should I choose near the sea?

The 316 stainless version. Powder-coated aluminium performs well in a sheltered suburban garden, but 316 is the grade specified for salt-laden air and is worth the difference within a few streets of the water.

How long should the LED last?

The datasheet rates lamp expectancy at more than 30,000 hours. Run for six hours a night that is well over a decade, which is why the driver and controller — not the LED — are usually the first parts to need attention.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
