Mini Tivah is the small one in the Tivah family, and the MR11 globe is the reason. An MR11 is roughly half the diameter of the more common MR16, so the whole head shrinks with it — this is the fitting for when you want the light and not the hardware. On a long 600 mm spike it stands well clear of ground cover while the body itself stays visually slight, finished in poly powder-coated black aluminium so it recedes into the bed by day.
The two look alike and are not interchangeable. An MR11 globe is the smaller of the pair, and an MR16 will not physically fit this head — a genuinely common ordering mistake, because MR16 is what most people picture when they hear "garden spotlight globe". When you buy a replacement, or a different beam angle, specify MR11 explicitly. The datasheet also sets a 20 W maximum for the lamp, which is a ceiling for the socket rather than a target — the supplied LED draws 3 W and there is no reason to go near the limit.
It runs on 12 V DC and requires a suitable 12 V DC LED driver. Its installation sheet is explicit — "Use an appropriate 12v DC LED Driver — DO NOT CONNECT LIGHT FITTING DIRECT TO 240V" — and sets two conditions that void the warranty: a maximum of 25 m between fitting and driver, and supply held within ±5% of the required voltage. The head gives 90° of tilt and 270° of swivel, so aim is adjustable after the spike is set. The supplied 3 W MR11 LED is switchable between two temperatures, and the product's own table pairs them as 270 lm at 3000K and 300 lm at 4000K. Beam angle follows the globe rather than the body. The datasheet records CRI >80, IK08 impact resistance and Protection Class III — low voltage, no earth required — with IP65 sealing against rain, sprinklers and hose-down. The body is aluminium with a poly powder-coated black finish.
Backed by a 3-year replacement warranty.
Lights For You keeps MR11 globes on the shelf alongside this fitting, which matters more than it sounds — MR11 is the size most hardware shops do not stock.
No. This head takes an MR11, which is physically smaller than an MR16 — the larger globe will not fit. It is the most common ordering mistake on this fitting, so specify MR11 when you buy a replacement or a different beam angle.
The datasheet states 20 W as the ceiling for the socket. The supplied LED draws 3 W, and with LED globes there is no reason to approach the limit — it exists because the socket was originally specified for halogen.
Yes, a 12 V DC LED driver. The fitting must not be connected directly to 240 V. Keep it within 25 m of its driver and hold the supply within ±5% of 12 V, since both are stated warranty conditions.
The spike is 600 mm, which is long for a fitting this small. That is deliberate — it lets a compact head sit above ground cover and border planting instead of being lost in it.
Two: 3000K at 270 lm and 4000K at 300 lm, selectable at installation. 3000K keeps foliage and timber looking warm; 4000K is crisper and suits stone, render and modern hardware.
Yes. The head has 90° of tilt and 270° of swivel, so the beam can be corrected by hand once the spike is in and the planting has settled.
It is an aluminium body with a poly powder-coated finish rather than stainless steel, so for direct salt exposure a 316 stainless fitting is the better specification. In a sheltered suburban garden the coated aluminium is well proven.
