Oasis LED Garden Spike Spotlight

This is the big one. At 24 W and around two thousand lumens, the largest Oasis is not an accent light — it is the fitting you use when something genuinely large has to be lit. A mature gum, a two-storey render wall, a stand of palms, the full width of a driveway. For scale: it produces roughly twice the light of the 12 W Oasis and more than twenty times a small 1.5 W accent spike. Used on a shrub it would be absurd. Used on a tree that actually needs it, nothing smaller in the range will do the job.

Twenty-four watts at twelve volts is a real design constraint

Power is the thing to plan around, and it catches people out. Twenty-four watts at 12 V DC means roughly two amps per fitting — so three of these need a driver rated well past 72 W, and the cable has to carry that current without the voltage sagging. Havit sets the limit as a warranty condition, not as advice: the fitting must sit no more than 25 m from its driver and the supply must stay within ±5%. Its installation sheet is equally direct about the other half: "Use an appropriate 12v DC LED Driver — DO NOT CONNECT LIGHT FITTING DIRECT TO 240V." On a run of these, size the driver and the cable together before anything is trenched.

Where it should not go

The body is aluminium, and Havit's installation sheet draws a hard line: "Aluminium and 304SS fittings must not be installed within 2km of any salt water environments." That is a warranty boundary, not a suggestion. If your garden is inside that distance, the polycarbonate and solid brass fittings in the range exist for exactly this reason. Elsewhere the aluminium body, IP65 sealing and 260 mm spike are entirely at home in a bed, a lawn edge or a gravel run.

Setting it up

• Tri-colour selectable — 1900 lm at 3000K, 1970 lm at 4000K, 2040 lm at 5500K.
• The colour switch is inside. Twist the cover off anti-clockwise and the selector sits on the side just below the reflector. Set it before the fitting goes in the ground; nobody enjoys doing it afterwards in a wet bed.
• 90° tilt, a 260 mm spike and a 1 m reinforced cable.
• Built-in LED, so there is no globe to source or replace, and CRI above 80.
• A matching hood accessory is available for the 24 W — worth it wherever the fitting sits below a sightline, because at this output the source itself is uncomfortable to look at.

Aluminium in poly powder-coated black, parallel wiring, and a 3-year replacement warranty. As with everything on a buried low-voltage run, the wiring is licensed electrician's work.
