This is the anti-glare hood for the Havit Oasis 7 W garden spike light — a shaped aluminium shroud that extends past the face of the fitting so the source sits recessed inside it. It does one job and does it well: it stops you seeing the LED itself from the side, while leaving the beam on the ground untouched.

What glare control actually fixes

An uplight aimed into a tree is invisible from the house until someone walks past it and takes the beam in the eye. That moment is what ruins otherwise good garden lighting, and it is worst on a level sightline — a fitting in a bed beside a path, a window that looks down the garden, or a neighbour's outlook across a low fence. A hood cuts the direct view of the source from those angles without reducing what lands on the plant. If you have ever stood in a garden and thought the lighting felt harsh rather than bright, glare was almost certainly the reason.

How it fits

The hood slides over the fitting and locks with a screw on the underside, so it is a tool-light job that can be done after the spike is already in the ground. It is sized specifically for the 7 W Oasis body — the 12 W and 24 W fittings are physically larger and take their own hoods, so match the hood to the fitting's wattage rather than assuming one size covers the family. It is aluminium with a black poly powder-coated finish, chosen to match the fixture so the combination still reads as one object in daylight.

Hood, or just re-aim the fitting?

Worth asking, because re-aiming is free. If the glare is only visible from one spot, tilting the head a few degrees away from that sightline sometimes solves it outright. A hood is the answer when it does not — when the fitting has to point back toward the house to light the thing you want lit, when the garden is walked from several directions, or when tilting far enough to fix the glare would take the beam off the plant. On a 7 W fitting, which is usually accenting something close by rather than throwing light a long way, that second case is common.
