Bitta is not a spotlight — it is a spike-mounted bollard, 574 mm tall and ø170 mm at the head, casting light downward and outward onto the ground around it over a 90° spread. That makes it a path and edge light rather than an uplight: it shows you where the ground is instead of throwing light at a tree. It comes in four bodies — antique brass, solid brass, 316 stainless steel and black powder-coated 316 stainless — and takes a replaceable 3 W G5.3 LED globe.

The choice to make: four bodies, three price points

• 316 stainless steel and black powder-coated 316 stainless are the value pair. The stainless is corrosion-resistant through the metal; the black version adds a coating over the same base metal for a fitting that recedes visually.
• Antique brass sits above them and patinates with weather — darkening unevenly, which suits sandstone and established gardens.
• Solid brass is the premium body and will weather furthest from how it arrives.

All four give the same light. Choose on how the bollard will look at waist height beside a path, because unlike a spike spotlight this fitting is seen, in daylight, every day.

Where it works

• Garden paths and driveway edges, spaced so the pools of light overlap and the whole route reads as continuous.
• Wide garden beds and lawn borders, defining an edge from a distance without any fitting at eye level.
• Coastal properties — specify 316 stainless or solid brass where salt spray reaches.
• Entry and courtyard landscaping, where a visible bollard is part of the detailing rather than something to hide.

Specifying it

The base is G5.3 and the globe is replaceable, which is why Bitta suits installations meant to be serviced rather than replaced. Replacements must be G5.3 rated for 12 V DC — an MR11 or GU10 lamp is the wrong base and must not be fitted.

Bitta is 12 V DC and requires a 12 V DC LED driver. It must never be connected directly to 240 V. Each fitting must sit within 25 m of its driver, which is a warranty condition rather than a guideline — on a long path this is the limit that decides where the driver goes and whether you need a second one.

Rated IP65 with frosted glass, so direct rain, sprinklers and ground moisture are within rating, and IK08 impact rated for a fitting that stands beside a path. Tri-colour selectable at install, paired as 300 lm at 3000K, 315 lm at 4000K and 310 lm at 5500K. It is not dimmable with the globes supplied — wire it to a switched circuit. Supplied with a 200 mm spike and a 1 m reinforced cable. Installation by a licensed electrician.
