Liptor 30W surface mounted LED light

The Liptor is a large round surface-mounted fitting — 346mm across and 122mm deep — sold here in white and black. At 30W and up to 1600lm it is a general-purpose utility light for the spaces that need to be properly lit rather than decorated: laundries, garages, storerooms, covered service areas, stairwells and back-of-house corridors.

Its size is the reason to choose it. A 346mm diffuser spreads 30W over a wide face, so the light leaves the fitting softly rather than as a small bright source. In a room where people look up — a laundry, a garage with a hoist, a corridor with a low ceiling — that is the difference between light you notice and glare you avoid looking at.

Light output and colour temperature

The Liptor is tri-colour, so the colour temperature is set on the fitting at installation rather than fixed when it is made: 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, with output at 1320lm, 1600lm and 1490lm respectively. Colour rendering is rated above 80 CRI and the beam is 120°.

Note that the middle setting is the brightest of the three, so if maximum output matters more than colour, 4000K is the setting to choose — and 4000K is usually the right answer in a utility space anyway, where surfaces should read accurately without the room feeling cold.

Power and installation

The fitting runs on 240V AC mains and needs no driver, so it is a standard mains connection for a licensed electrician. It is rated IP54, which covers dust and splashing water from any direction — appropriate for a laundry, a garage or a sheltered exterior position, though not for a fully exposed one or a hose-down area.

The LED is integral to the fitting. There is no lamp base, nothing to buy alongside it, and no globe to replace — which is worth having on a 346mm fitting mounted overhead, where changing a lamp means a ladder and two hands.

Choosing the finish

Two part numbers are sold on this page and they are the same fitting: HV36053T-WHT in white and HV36053T-BLK in black. White is the default for a ceiling or a light-coloured wall, where the body disappears and only the lit face is read. Black suits dark ceilings, exposed structure and industrial interiors, where a white disc would be the most prominent thing in the room.
