This is the Roto with an eyelid fitted — a shroud over the top of the face that blocks the fitting's upward light and sends the output downward instead. On a compact 10W wall light that detail decides where the fitting can go. Under a bedroom window, on a boundary wall, or beneath a low eave, an open-faced bunker light puts as much light onto the wall above it and into the air as onto the ground below. The eyelid removes that.

The body is aluminium with a polycarbonate diffuser, rated IP54 for dust and splashing water — a rating for sheltered exterior positions such as a covered walkway, a carport or a wall under an eave, rather than one fully exposed to driven rain.

Light output

The fitting draws 10W and is rated at 360lm, 410lm and 390lm across its three colour settings. It is tri-colour, so the colour temperature is selected on the fitting at installation rather than fixed when it is manufactured. Colour rendering is 80 CRI or better and the beam is 120°.

Those figures sit below the open-faced Roto's, and that is the shroud doing its job rather than a weaker fitting: part of the output is deliberately blocked. If the light was never wanted above the fitting, nothing useful has been lost.

Power and installation

The Roto runs on 240V AC mains and needs no driver, so it is a standard mains connection for a licensed electrician. The LED is built into the fitting: no lamp base, no globe supplied or required, and nothing to replace later.

The eyelid makes this fitting directional, so orientation is part of the installation rather than a detail. Mounted inverted it would shroud the light you want and release the light you were trying to control, so it needs to go on the wall with the eyelid uppermost.

When the eyelid is worth it

Specify this version where spill light is the problem: below windows, along boundaries, under verandah ceilings where uplight bounces straight back down as glare, and anywhere a neighbour's outlook includes your wall. Choose the plain-faced Roto where lighting the wall above the fitting is part of the effect — in a stairwell or a covered entry, that upward wash often looks better than a hard downward pool.
