Prime Coloured Fixed Downlight 70mm Cutout

This listing carries the Prime recessed downlight in the three metallic finishes — HV5511T-BR brass coloured, HV5511T-CP copper coloured and HV5511T-NK nickel coloured. All three are the same 12 W aluminium fitting on a Ø70 mm cut-out, supplied complete with a Triac dimmable driver, flex and plug. Only the powder coat differs; nothing about the light does.

Choosing between the three

Because the optics are identical, this is a purely visual decision and it is worth making it against what is already in the room. Brass reads warm and slightly yellow and sits comfortably with unlacquered tapware and timber; copper is redder and reads strongest against pale ceilings; nickel is the most neutral of the three and is the one that disappears against a grey or off-white ceiling. Lights For You lists the same model in antique brass separately, and in black and white at a lower price.

What the specification is buying

The Prime is specified for quality of light rather than for price. It renders at CRI >90, is binned to SDCM <4 so that one fitting matches the next across a run, and controls glare to UGR <22 behind a clear glass lens. The body is IK06 and lamp expectancy is >50,000 hrs.

Output and colour

A switch selects 3000K, 4000K or 5500K and Havit measures 839 lm, 913 lm and 841 lm in that order — so 4000K is the brightest by about 9%, and the warm and cool settings are within two lumens of one another. That is unusual and it is useful: on this fitting, moving between 3000K and 5500K changes the character of a room without changing how much light is in it. The beam is 60°, which is tighter than a general-purpose downlight and concentrates light on the surfaces below rather than spilling it across the ceiling. The head is fixed and Havit lists tilt as none.

IC-4, and the condition attached to it

The Prime is IC-4 rated without an accessory. Havit qualifies that in two ways which matter on site: only the fitting may be covered, the driver must be mounted above any insulation covering the fixture so it can ventilate, and loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool must not be used with this fixture at all.

Wiring, rating and warranty

All three run on 240 V AC, are Protection Class 2 so no earth is required at the fitting, and dim over a 10–100% range on a Triac dimmer such as Havit's HV9625. IP54 covers the front of the fitting only, which puts a bathroom or laundry ceiling in scope and an exposed one out of it. Havit's warranty line for these part numbers reads "3 Years replacement warranty (items ordered after 01/01/22)".
