Prime Bronze Coloured Fixed Downlight 70mm Cutout

HV5511T-AB is the Prime recessed downlight in an antique brass finish — a 12 W aluminium fitting on a Ø70 mm cut-out, supplied complete with a Triac dimmable driver, flex and plug. It is the smallest cut-out in the Prime range and the one most often specified where a ceiling is already drilled for 70 mm fittings or where a designer wants the aperture to read as a detail rather than a hole.

What the specification is really buying

The Prime is the quality-of-light member of Havit's recessed range rather than the cheapest. It renders at CRI >90, which is the threshold above which skin tones, timber and fabric stop looking flat, and it is binned to SDCM <4 — a measure of how closely one fitting matches the next, and the thing that decides whether a run of ten downlights looks like one installation or ten. Glare is controlled to UGR <22 behind a clear glass lens. Lamp expectancy is >50,000 hrs, and the body carries IK06.

Output, and a colour choice that costs nothing

A switch selects 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, and Havit measures 839 lm, 913 lm and 841 lm in that order. Two things follow. The brightest setting is 4000K, worth about 9% over either end. And the warm and cool settings are within two lumens of each other — so choosing between 3000K and 5500K is purely a decision about the character of the room, with no light lost either way. The beam is 60°, tighter than a general-purpose downlight, which puts more light where it is aimed; the head is fixed and Havit lists tilt as none.

IC-4, with a condition on the driver

The Prime is IC-4 rated without needing an accessory, which is the practical difference from the Gleam range. The rating is not unconditional, though: Havit is explicit that only the fitting may be covered, that the driver must be mounted above any insulation covering the fixture so it can ventilate, and that loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool must not be used with this fixture at all.

Wiring, rating and warranty

It runs on 240 V AC, is Protection Class 2 so no earth is required at the fitting, and dims over a 10–100% range with a Triac dimmer such as Havit's HV9625. IP54 covers the front of the fitting only, so a bathroom or laundry ceiling is within scope and an exposed one is not. Havit's warranty line for this part number reads "3 Years replacement warranty (items ordered after 01/01/22)".
