A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The largest of the IP65 Nella Baffled fittings: 24 W, a Ø136 mm body 180 mm deep, on a Ø131.5 mm base plate. It is a substantial object — closer in presence to a small surface-mounted oyster than to a downlight — and it exists for the ceilings where a recessed fitting is impossible and one position has to do a lot of work.
This range is dust-tight and rated against water jets from any direction, which is why it, rather than the IP54 Nella, is the one for an open carport, an unenclosed pergola, a plant room or a wash-down bay. The trade is honest: the seals are what earn the rating, and Havit's installation sheet states that all o-rings and seals must be in place correctly to maintain warranty, and that the seal must stay in place on any outdoor install. Havit also excludes aluminium fittings from sites within 5 km of salt water, so coastal work needs a different material rather than a higher IP number.
Black and white, each on either supply, all four with identical optics. The 240 V models are Protection Class 1 — an earth is required, connected before positive and neutral — and are the Triac dimmable ones. The 12 V DC models take a constant-voltage driver, are Protection Class 3 with no earth at the fitting, and Havit specifies them as not dimmable; its instruction sheet prints the limit in capitals — do not connect the light fitting directly to 240 V. Where several share a run they wire in parallel.
Five settings from 2700K to 5700K, measured at 1,400 / 1,410 / 1,420 / 1,430 / 1,440 lm. As on the 18 W version, the whole spread is about 3% — so the switch is a colour decision and not a brightness one, and a scheme can mix warm and neutral rooms without recalculating anything. The beam is 60° through a honeycomb baffle, glare is rated UGR <10, and colour rendering is CRI >90 with SDCM <3 binning, which is what keeps a row of them looking like one row.
No cut-out. The base plate twists off anti-clockwise, screws to the ceiling, and the body — which unplugs from its driver — twists back on clockwise, so the plate can be fixed and wired long before the fitting is handled. The colour switch is inside the body and preset to 3000K; set it before locking the fitting home, because reaching it afterwards means taking the whole thing down again. Rated IK08 with a plastic diffuser and >30,000 hrs of life, with a 3 year replacement warranty. Lights For You lists the 18 W version of this same IP65 body, at Ø114 × 140 mm, where the ceiling is lower or the positions are closer together.
Ø136 mm across and 180 mm deep, on a Ø131.5 mm base plate — noticeably larger than the 18 W version at Ø114 × 140 mm. It is worth mocking up a position before committing to a grid of them.
Yes — it is IP65, dust-tight and protected against water jets, which is exactly what the IP54 version of this range is not. The seals must be correctly seated, and Havit excludes aluminium fittings from sites within 5 km of salt water.
Hardly. The five settings run 1,400 to 1,440 lm — about 3% end to end — so the choice is about the look of the room rather than about how much light you get.
The 240 V models, on a Triac dimmer. The 12 V DC models are specified by Havit as not dimmable; any dimming would depend on a driver designed for it.
The 240 V models do — Protection Class 1, earth connected first. The 12 V DC models are Class 3 and land no earth at the fitting.
No. It is surface mounted onto a base plate, so the only hole needed is for the cable — which is why it suits concrete soffits, carport ceilings and lined eaves.
The seals. Havit requires the seal to stay in place when the fitting is installed outdoors and states plainly that all o-rings and seals must be correctly in place to maintain warranty.
